Tony Stewart started the Chase with a 16th-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.
The good news is that Stewart holds a Chase transfer spot heading into the second Chase race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. But Stewart knows his No. 14 team from Stewart-Haas Racing is going to have to improve from Sunday’s performance if they are going to advance to the second round.
“Well, it was a good race for us in the spring, but I mean some of the guys that are behind us are guys that are really good too,” Stewart told NBCSN. “We are going to have to be on our game these next two weeks.”
