Ty Dillon had to start at the rear of the field for an unapproved adjustment, slapped the wall, marched through the field and claimed a runner-up finish to Daniel Suarez in Sunday’s Drive Sober 200 Xfinity Series race at Dover International Speedway.
Dillon is one spot out of a transfer spot to the second round of the Chase. He trails eighth-ranked Brennan Poole by three points. The 12-driver Chase field will be cut to eight after Friday night’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“Our car was really good,” Dillon said.“Obviously we were motivated. A little disappointed with the way everything started there.
“(The result was) what we needed. It takes a little bit of the pressure off going into Charlotte. We’ve still got to execute there and did what we did today.”
