U.S. Army Herald Trumpet Band to perform National Anthem at STP 500
Martinsville Speedway announced Monday that the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band Herald Trumpets will perform the National Anthem Sunday prior to the STP 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
The group, consisting of 14 trumpeters and a snare drummer, is based four hours east at Fort Eustis in Virginia.
“I’ve heard this group perform the National Anthem on a couple of occasions and they do an amazing job with it,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “I’m a big believer that the National Anthem should be performed in a very traditional manner and that’s exactly what you get with the TRADOC Herald Trumpets. I think everyone will be very impressed with them.”
The STP 500 is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET.
