Simone Fontecchio has been traded to the Detroit Pistons for a second-round pick, Kevin Knox and the draft rights to Gabriele Procida, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The second-year man has started each of Utah’s last 20 games, averaging 9.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 triples across 26.6 minutes. Without Fontecchio, Ochai Agbaji, Talen Horton-Tucker and Taylor Hendricks (who was recently recalled from the G League) could see increased minutes moving forward. Fontecchio is a promising young player who could see plenty of playing time for the 6-43 Pistons to close out the season. Both teams could make additional moves ahead of the trade deadline, so we’ll have to wait until the dust settles before making final judgment calls about fantasy impact. In the immediate aftermath of this deal, Alec Burks looks like the biggest loser.
