Buckner

Buckner will be heading into his third season on the Cavaliers coaching staff in 2022-23, and he’ll do so as J.B. Bickerstaff’s top assistant. After playing 10 seasons in the NBA for five different franchises, he had assistant coaching stints with the Rockets and Grizzlies before joining the Cavaliers in 2020.

Buckner is looking for a two-year deal at little more than the minimum.

We’re just shocked that the six-year deal hasn’t worked out so well. If Buckner is let go, he might join the Nuggets.

Who knew that Voshon Lenard was one of the most irreplaceable players in the NBA? GM Kiki Vandeweghe said using the combo of Greg Buckner, DerMarr Johnson, Rodney White and usual starting point guard Andre Miller to fill the void has, “shown flashes of being able to work.” The Nuggets will apparently ride it out until Dec. 15, when players who signed contracts during the summer are eligible to be traded.

Buckner is day-to-day.

Coach Randy Ayers said he didn’t know yet whether Buckner would start the season on the active roster.

However, it could be a week or so before it’s finalized, as the Nuggets are still offering less money than Buckner wants. Either way, the chance of him making a fantasy impact are slim.

No word on who he might sign with as of yet, but he won’t be picking up his $1.8 million player option for next season.

Buckner played with the 76ers last season.
