ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Jamahl Mosley is out as the head coach of the Magic.
Mosley spent five seasons with Orlando and made the playoffs in each of the last three. Orlando lost in the first round of each of those postseason berths, including the most recent exit after surrendering a 3-1 series lead against the Pistons. Orlando will look for a new coach to guide an oft-injured Magic team that features a young core of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero.

The Orlando Magic will pick first in the 2022 NBA Draft, with the NBA announcing the result of its draft lottery Tuesday night.
What a night for Jamahl Mosley and the Magic, with the team now holding the first overall pick for the fourth time in franchise history. The prior three top picks were Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber (whose draft rights were traded to the Warriors in exchange for Penny Hardaway), and Dwight Howard. Oklahoma City will pick second, and they also hold the 12th overall pick via the Paul George trade. Rounding out the top five are Houston, Sacramento, and Detroit. Indiana, Portland, New Orleans (via the Lakers), San Antonio, and Washington round out the top ten picks. Finishing out the lottery will be New York, Oklahoma City, Charlotte, and Cleveland. The top prospects in this draft are considered to be Auburn power forward/center Jabari Smith Jr., Gonzaga power forward Chet Holmgren, and Duke power forward Paolo Banchero.

The Orlando Magic have cancelled their morning shootaround ahead of their matchup with the Miami Heat on Friday night.
Magic forward Ignas Brazdeikis entered into the league’s health & safety protocols yesterday, so it’s possible their are more cases. No other cases are confirmed as of now. We will update as more information comes out.

The Magic are hiring Dallas Mavericks assistant Jamahl Mosley to serve as Orlando’s new head coach.
No surprise here, as it was rumored Mosley was closing in on the Magic job earlier this week. He is traveling to Orlando today to finalize terms and sign the contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Mosley has agreed in principle to a four-year deal. Mosley has spent the past seven years in Dallas as an assistant under Rick Carlisle.

The Magic are reportedly on the verge of extending an official offer to Jamahl Mosley to install him as their new head coach.
Mosley has spent the past seven years in Dallas, and when he filled in for a quarantined Rick Carlisle in a victory over the Knicks this past season, Luka Doncic said: “He’s got the things needed for a head coach.” Mosley has reportedly done well, developing relationships with young players and helping hold them accountable, so he seems well suited to take over the rebuild in Orlando.
