Jay Scrubb has been ruled out indefinitely after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee during Saturday’s practice.
Scrubb, who signed a two-way contract with the Celtics in mid-July, will likely miss the 2023-24 season due to the knee injury. While his absence won’t impact fantasy basketball, this is a brutal turn of events for Scrubb, who played well enough for the Celtics’ Summer League squad to earn the two-way deal.

Jay Scrubb shot 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from the foul line in Wednesday’s 95-90 win over the Lakers, accounting for 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block, and four 3-pointers in 23 minutes.
Fighting for either a roster spot or a training camp invite, Scrubb was highly productive off the bench on Wednesday. Scoring has never been an issue for him, but the defensive consistency hasn’t always been there. Until we have clarity on Scrubb’s roster status for next season, there’s no need to consider drafting him in any fantasy league. And Boston may not be the best spot for him regarding fantasy relevance due to the Celtics’ depth on the wings.

According to TNT’s Chris Haynes, the Magic are signing Jay Scrubb to a two-way contract.
Scrubb, who was in training camp with the Magic before being waived on October 15, has been playing with the team’s G League affiliate. In 27 games with Lakeland, he’s averaged 22.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.9 blocks, and 2.0 3-pointers in 30.9 minutes. Scrubb put up these numbers on solid percentages, shooting 45.6% from the field and 74.5% from the foul line.

The Magic announced on Saturday that they have waived Jay Scrubb one week after signing him.
Scrubb likely wasn’t going to see the floor for the Magic this season, so this shouldn’t have an impact in fantasy hoops outside of the deepest league possible.

The Magic announced Saturday that they have signed Jay Scrubb and Alex Morales to Exhibit 10 contracts.
To make room for Scrubb and Morales, the Magic have waived Aleem Ford and Zavier Simpson. Scrubb, a second-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, appeared in 18 games for the Clippers last season. As for Morales, he was not undrafted after a solid four-year career at Wagner College. Orlando is shorthanded on the perimeter, as Jalen Suggs (knee) and Markelle Fultz (toe) are currently dealing with injuries. However, that is unlikely to impact Scrubb or Morales. Look for those two to spend most of their time with the Magic’s G League affiliate in Lakeland.

Jay Scrubb shot just 7-of-17 from the field but posted a useful line including 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block, one 3-pointer and two turnovers in a loss to the Heat on Saturday.
The Clippers blew an 18-point lead which lines up given their sloppy play late. In four prior Summer League appearances before this evening, Scrubb averaged 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointer per game, but he did convert on just 38.6% of his shots. He took a small step in the right direction tonight as far as his shooting is concerned, so at least he ended on a high note in that aspect. The Clippers may have the most guards out of any team in the entire league and Scrubb is close to the bottom of the barrel, so it would take at least a few injuries for him to become a relevant fantasy asset. Reggie Perry and Xavier Moon also scored 16 points apiece with very similar lines to Scrubb’s, and the loss put LAC at a 2-3 record in this Summer League.

Brandon Boston Jr. went for a team-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting along with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, three 3-pointers and three turnovers in 32 minutes of a 82-65 victory over the Jazz.
He came alive in the fourth quarter and helped the Clippers get a victory to bring them to 2-2 in Summer League. Boston Jr. had some fun moments in his rookie year with the Clips, and he’s had a solid SL run as well. His fantasy relevance will depend pretty solely on the health of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, and with both guys expected to be healthy for the start of the season, BBJ shouldn’t be on fantasy draft boards for now. Jay Scrubb looked solid with an efficient 14/5/1/3/1 effort, while Cameron Reynolds rounded out the double-digit scoring in L.A. with a quietly good 12/4/2/3/2 showing.

  • NOP Shooting Guard #11
Brandon Boston Jr. hit 3-of-12 shots and 9-of-12 free throws for 15 points, nine rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes of Tuesday’s SL loss to the Lakers.
BBJ had an interesting season for the Clippers last year, appearing in 51 games and getting nearly 15 minutes and seven points a night. But if Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are going to be healthy this season it’s hard to see Boston breaking out. Jay Scrubb also scored 15 points but didn’t exactly crush it. Those were the only two Clippers to score in double figures tonight. Moussa Diabate, the 43rd pick in this year’s draft, started and finished with nine points, eight rebounds, a steal and a 3-pointer in 26 minutes.

Jay Scrubb (turf toe, right foot) has been cleared for basketball activities after undergoing season-ending surgery in February.
Scrubb is cleared for everything after a 16-week rehab process, and we got the news from the source exactly when Scrubb tweeted “I’m back” in all capitals with some fun emojis. He’ll be ready for summer league, camp and the season unless he suffers any setbacks, but he’s completely buried on the Clippers’ depth chart and won’t be close to the fantasy radar.

Clippers two-way guard Jay Scrubb (turf toe, right foot) will have season-ending surgery.
This doesn’t have any fantasy implications in any way, but more importantly we wish for a successful procedure and speedy recovery for the promising wing.
