Undrafted rookie John Shurna is earning praise from coach Mike Woodson as he tries to make the Knicks roster.
“I just like his makeup,” Woodson said. “He can make shots, that’s what he does, but he’s a basketball player. He can put the ball down, he rebounds for his position, I like him so far.” Shurna’s game is much like that of teammate Steve Novak, so whether there’s room for both players remains to be seen. But as of now, it looks like Shurna has a shot at making the final roster.

    Knicks sign F John Shurna.
Shurna is an undrafted rookie out of Northwestern who shot 44 percent from downtown as a senior, but his NBA outlook is limited by a lack of quickness and strength. The contract is partially guaranteed and he’ll be lucky to make the Knicks’ roster, meaning fantasy owners should ignore him.
  • NYK Shooting Guard
The Knicks have waived Mychel Thompson, Oscar Bellfield, John Shurna and Henry Sims.
The main fantasy story here is that Chris Copeland will make the 15-man roster. Copeland is someone to watch in deeper leagues. Thompson did start three games for the Cavs last year, but he might need some injuries to other teams to catch on at the NBA level.
