Haislip

Haislip was waived by the Bucks a month ago. He could be needed since Jamaal Tinsley, Austin Croshere and Scot Pollard are all questionable.

''Marcus has started the last eight games and we’re 7-1,’' coach George Karl said. ''I don’t like to mess with a rhythm and I’ll probably stay the same.’'

Coach George Karl has already said Haislip will be a regular in the rotation next season, but as the team searches for frontcourt help, Haislip may get a shot. He only appeared in one game during February, but has played in five during March, including Wednesday when he tied a career high with 12 points, and set a career high with three blocks.

Tim Thomas had a great game off the bench and could replace Marcus Haislip at power forward. Anthony Mason is another candidate to join the starting lineup.

Haislip played only 13 minutes. He has a bright future, but his minutes will likely diminish when Anthony Mason and Jason Caffey return.

Haislip played in Lebanon last year, becoming the highest-paid foreign player in Lebanese history, and he has played for numerous other European teams. With a thriving overseas career and no interest in the U.S., it’s very doubtful that we’ll see him in the NBA again.

Haislip, a DNP-CD last night, is getting cut just two years after being drafted 13th overall by the Bucks. Some team will take a chance on him.

Haislip will join the recently Britton Johnsen and Tremaine Fowlkes on the Indians bench.

As crazy as it sounds, he could have some short-term value in deeper leagues with the injury and suspension-riddled Pacers. We wouldn’t suggest picking him up just yet, but keep your eye on him.

The 28-year-old Haislip was the 13th pick of the 2002 draft and is considered one of Europe’s best free agents this summer. His acquisition isn’t expected to alter the Spurs’ search for another big man, such as Rasheed Wallace or Antonio McDyess.
