Allen Iverson arrived late to a press conference before his enshrinement in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Reaching Springfield, Mass., hasn’t gotten the former 76ers star on schedule.

Tom Westerholm of MassLive:

Allen Iverson, 2016 Basketball Hall of Fame guard, was supposed to make an appearance at Commerce High School in Springfield on Friday — a community event scheduled by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and an opportunity to speak in front of the student body.

Commerce students were gathered into the school auditorium and seemed very excited, cheering every time it appeared that the former Philadelphia 76ers guard might have arrived. Scattered chants of “We want A-I” started up as they waited. When a Sixers employee took snapchats with the crowd as everyone waited, the auditorium exploded with cheers.

Iverson, who also arrived late to Thursday’s Hall of Fame press conference, never showed up.

Sheryl Swoopes, also being inducted this year, and Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy spoke to the students.
