Another game, another Draymond Green kicking controversy (video)

Draymond Green – one flagrant foul and two technical fouls from suspension – said he wasn’t worried about missing an NBA Finals game.

Plenty of others were, though.

Green’s foot neared Kyrie Irving’s face during a first-quarter Irving foul, causing yet another kicking uproar.

Green:

You think I tried to kick Kyrie?
If I was aware of something, I wouldn’t do it. But basketball is basketball, and bodies react a certain type of way. And I don’t really mind any scrutiny. It doesn’t bother me. I’m going to still live my life and do everything I do the same way and not lose any sleep, so life goes on.

If this were anybody else, this play wouldn’t draw a second look. Because it’s Green, we’re going to dissect it to death.

You get yanked down by the shoulder and see where your feet go. When your balance is suddenly taken from you, your limbs can swing about.

This isn’t Green flailing and kicking his leg out on shots – a practice that should stop. This is far more incidental and far less worthy of the scrutiny it has received.
