The Wizards got a hard-fought victory over the Nets on Saturday, and this play from John Wall sealed it.
Washington led by five with just over 30 seconds remaining, thanks to a huge game off the bench from Drew Gooden of all people, who scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth. Joe Johnson misses the jumper, and Wall comes up with the loose ball, before splitting two defenders near midcourt and finishing with the slam that put the exclamation point on the Washington win.
On the other side, Brooklyn will likely be kicking themselves for letting a winnable one slip away. The team missed a lot of easy looks in the paint, and their offensive execution was far from crisp, especially over the game’s final six and a half minutes, where the Wizards finished things on a 14-3 run to secure the victory.
