LeBron sets the record straight, says Spurs’ Danny Green did not party with the Heat after Game 7

Green-LeBron

After the Heat won their second straight NBA championship, the party moved from American Airlines Arena to the Miami night club Story, where the team partied into the wee hours of the morning celebrating its hard-fought run to the title.

There were plenty of photos and videos to come out of the evening’s festivities, but perhaps none were more interesting than the one featuring LeBron James giving a hug to San Antonio Spurs sharp-shooter Danny Green.

That particular picture became newsworthy, of course, due to the fact that it was a bit odd to see a member of the losing team appearing to be partying with the newly-crowned champions.

But that’s not exactly what took place.

So, after Green became the subject of scorn in the days following the celebration, James took to Twitter to defend his former Cavaliers teammate on Sunday.

Danny Green did not party with us on Thursday night. He came to say congrats and I told him how proud of him I was for taking advantage.....

Fans would like to believe that players on opposing teams have a certain level of animosity toward one another, but the reality is that most of these guys grew up playing together either on the AAU circuit or in college. And plenty, as is the case here with James and Green, have a relationship based on being former NBA teammates.
