Can you picture Bud Selig calling David Stern for advice in dealing with an owner rocking the boat?
Mark Cuban -- the owner of the Dallas Mavericks -- may soon be the proud owner of the Texas Rangers as well. Maybe. A lot of lawyers have to have their say first.
In an open bidding process between two parties, Cuban and partner Jim Crane have submitted the highest bid by $25 million. The other bidding group -- led by Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan and sports attorney Chuck Greenberg -- reportedly made a bid of $520 million.
That group now has the chance to match that bid. Plus they are trying to go to court to say the Cuban bid is not valid.
But right now, Cuban has to be the leader to be the next owner of the Rangers. Which should excite Rangers fans, but may not make other MLB owners very happy.
