Trey Burke, in wake of nude-photo scandal: ‘My judgments will be much better’

Nude photos, purportedly of Trey Burke, have been making their way around the internet today.

The Jazz point guard responded, via Aaron Falk and Steve Luhm of The Salt Lake Tribune:

Publicly, I want to first and foremost apologize to my family [and] apologize to the Miller family, as well as my teammates,” he said. “We already talked about it in the locker room. From this day forward, it won’t happen again. They were old pictures. They were meant to be kept private but they weren’t. So from this day forward my actions and my judgments will be much better.

Utah general manager Dennis Lindsey, via Falk and Luhm:

It’s safe to say … that we are disappointed in what we’ve learned so far but we are going to move forward. At this point in time, we’re collecting facts and we’re going to reserve final judgment for a later date.

I’m sure Burke regrets this. This has to be highly embarrassing for him.

It’s an unfortunate learning experience for the 21-year-old.

But he’s also a 21-year-old prone to making mistakes 21-year-olds make – and he might have been reasonably younger (and less mature) when he took the photos.

In the end, he didn’t harm anyone but himself and those close to him. He never risked harming anyone but himself and those close to him.

I don’t have any outrage toward Burke. This is his problem, and he must take care of it privately. It won’t interrupt his season unless he or the Jazz let it.
