Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said the only certainties about the Bobcats rotation are the big men.
Primoz Brezec and Omeka Okafor start, with Melvin Ely (when healthy) getting the reserve minutes. That’s actually a very solid core that the NBA will be learning more about. However, the perimeter minutes are another story. Gerald Wallace would appear to have one of the spots locked down, but he has to start playing better. Jason Kapono, Jason Hart and Eddie House have each started at least one game, but none of the three has locked in his status. Things get cloudier when Brevin Knight is able to return, and when the strong play of Steve Smith is factored in.
  • Primoz Brezec became a father for the first time on Tuesday.
His wife, Nada, gave birth to a girl named Nika. Tonight, Brezec goes up against his former team, the Pacers. For those of you with daily moves, there’s two strong motivations for a big game.
  • Bobcats signed center Primoz Brezec to a contract extension.
They didn’t announce any details about the deal. Brezec, a first-round pick of the Pacers four years ago, would have been a restricted free agent after the season. Since they expect him to have a significant role this year, the Bobcats figured it’d be cheaper to sign him now than it would be then.
  • The Bobcats are looking to sign C Primoz Brezec to a contract extension.
Considering his lack of playing time so far in the NBA, Brezec should be easy to lock up.
  • Primoz Brezec had 15 points and nine rebounds in a loss for the Bobcats tonight.
Not only did he continue the stellar play that he started in the preseason, but he scored the first hoop in the history of the Bobcats. Unfortunately he didn’t record a block, but this super-sleeper should be on active rosters in all leagues.
  • With the Grizzlies again resting players, Primoz Brezec didn’t play today.
Emeka Okafor played only nine minutes.
  • Primoz Brezec had a career-high 22 points and added six boards for the Bobcats tonight. He hit 7-of-8 shots from the floor and 8-of-9 free throws.
He continues to be a solid fantasy center.
  • Primoz Brezec should surpass his minutes played total from last season on Wednesday.
Through the first two games, Brezec is averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game. If he’s still unowned in your league, go get him.
  • Primoz Brezec tied a season high with 20 points and added six boards and two blocks.
The two blocks were a nice surprise and if we haven’t told you enough times yet, get him if he’s sitting out there.
  • Primoz Brezec says he’ll be ready to play on Tuesday, after suffering a sharp pain in his right shoulder on Friday.
Brezec had trouble raising his right arm on Saturday because he thinks he slept on it wrong. That might explain the fact he had just eight points and seven boards, and sat out much of the second half.
