Todd MacCulloch has been working out, but he is unlikely to be included on the Sixers’ playoff roster.
Although he is feeling better and has been lifting weights and working on his fitness, MacCulloch has not played basketball since going on the injured list with a neurological disease on Feb. 19. ''I don’t think we’re even thinking about playing him,’' coach Larry Brown said. ''I ask him every game. He hasn’t been out on the court, and I haven’t seen him run in months. So I don’t think that would be fair for him.’'

He was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a genetic disorder that has affected his balance and mobility and conceivably could end his career. The Sixers don’t appear to be counting on him contributing this season.
  • Todd MacCulloch will be out indefinitely because he has not responded to treatment for a nervous system disorder in his feet.
``We’re going to shut Todd down and try to find real definitive answers,’' coach Larry Brown said before Wednesday night’s game against the Bulls. The Sixers will continue to use Brian Skinner and Derrick Coleman at center.

  • Coach Larry Brown has not been officially told that Todd MacCulloch is out for the season, but Brown doesn’t plan to use him any more this year regardless.

  • Todd MacCulloch had surgery on his left foot Thursday as treatment for a possibly career-ending neurological disorder.
MacCulloch may undergo the same procedure, called tarsal tunnel release surgery, on his right foot if there is improvement with his left foot. He hopes to play next season.
  • Todd MacCulloch has been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neurological disorder that causes damage to the peripheral nerves.
The diagnosis doesn’t help clarify when MacCulloch will return to action. ``There is no definite ruling on his career or on this season,’' Sixers GM Billy King said. MacCulloch is scheduled to see a specialist tomorrow.
