ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Bulls and G Tre Jones have agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal.
Acquired from the Spurs just before the February trade deadline, Jones will remain in the Windy City for the foreseeable future. With Josh Giddey a restricted free agent, the Bulls have secured a point guard in case they lose their starter. Jones started nine of the 18 games he played for Chicago last season, averaging 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 25.3 minutes. Jones was most effective as a streamer in fantasy leagues, and that would only change in 2025-26 if the Bulls were to lose Giddey.

Kevin Huerter recorded 10 points (3-of-7 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), one rebound, one assist, two steals, one block and one three-pointer in 32 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Heat.
“Red Velvet” provided limited production in Wednesday’s defeat, which included a 1-of-4 night from beyond the arc. The three “stocks” were solid, but Chicago needed more from Huerter on a night when the team scored a season-low 90 points. After being traded to the Bulls in early February, Huerter was a 10th-round player in nine-cat formats, spending considerable time in the starting lineup. However, those starts were made possible by injuries to Lonzo Ball and Tre Jones. Huerter has one season remaining on his contract and should be in the rotation. However, a healthy Ball likely pushes him to the bench, especially if the Bulls re-sign Josh Giddey.

Tre Jones (foot) is no longer wearing a walking boot but is not likely to be back in time for the first round of the playoffs.
Due to a left midfoot sprain, Jones missed Chicago’s final 12 games of the regular season. While no longer needing to wear a walking boot is a positive development, this does not mean a return to game action is right around the corner. During his pregame availability, Bulls coach Billy Donovan said that Jones is unlikely to be ready in time for the first round of the playoffs should Chicago advance out of the play-in tournament. If the Bulls beat Miami, they’ll visit the Hawks on Friday, with the winner of that game being the eighth seed in the East.

Billy Donovan told reporters Tuesday that Josh Giddey (wrist) will be active for Wednesday’s game against the Heat.
Giddey missed three of the Bulls’ final four regular-season games but is set to return for the play-in game on Wednesday. Giddey logged 40 minutes in his last game and could have a similar workload against Miami with Lonzo Ball and Tre Jones banged up.

Lonzo Ball (wrist) is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Lakers.
Ball has not played since February 28, but that may change as soon as Thursday night. His absence opened up a place in the starting lineup for Tre Jones, who was recently sidelined by a sprained foot. Kevin Huerter has moved into the starting five, and his playing time will likely decrease if Ball returns.

Tre Jones (foot) is out for at least two weeks.
Jones sprained his left foot during Thursday’s game in Sacramento. His absence means Kevin Huerter should remain in the starting lineup, as there would be no need to move Huerter to the bench to make room for Josh Giddey. Red Velvet has been productive enough to merit being rostered in deep leagues when allowed to play starters’ minutes in Chicago.

Tre Jones (foot) is out for Saturday’s game against the Lakers.
Jones was seen in a walking boot Saturday and is set to miss a period of time. Josh Giddey, who was dealing with an ankle injury but isn’t listed on the injury report, is set to return to Chicago’s starting lineup in Jones’ absence.
  • CHI Shooting Guard #3
Josh Giddey (ankle) is not on the injury report against the Lakers on Saturday.
Giddey missed Thursday’s game, which was the second night of a back-to-back. He’ll be back in the lineup to take on Los Angeles. Giddey came off the bench in his most recent appearance, but if Tre Jones (foot) is out, he’ll return to a starting role If Jones plays, Giddey could continue to come off the bench, or he could push Jones or Kevin Huerter to a reserve role. Either way, Dalen Terry won’t play 20 minutes again.
  • CHI Point Guard #30
Tre Jones (foot) is questionable to play against the Lakers on Saturday.
Jones exited a couple minutes early on Thursday due to a left midfoot sprain, but it appears that he may have avoided a long-term injury. Jones may still miss Saturday’s game, but there is a good chance that Josh Giddey replaces him in the starting lineup regardless of his health.

Tre Jones (foot) exited early against the Kings on Thursday.
Jones was forced to leave the game with just two minutes left due to what the team is now calling a left midfoot sprain. He had X-rays, but they came back negative. An exact timeline for Jones’ absence is unclear, but it seems likely that he will miss Saturday’s game against the Lakers. Josh Giddey should return to the starting lineup in his place.
