Feliz was attempting to make a comeback with Seattle, but the 36-year-old didn’t pitch well enough in the Grapefruit League to make that a reality. It’s possible his career could be over, but he’s now free to sign with another club.

Feliz, who saved 40 games and won AL Rookie of the Year honors for the Rangers in 2010, last pitched in the majors with the Dodgers in 2021. He was only throwing 91-92 mph today, so that doesn’t bode well for a comeback at age 36.

Feliz, who recorded 107 major league saves from 2009-17, has spent the past three years pitching in Mexico and also toiling for Estrellas in the Dominican Winter League. The 36-year-old has a 3.55 ERA in 393 1/3 career innings as a major leaguer.

Feliz has refused a minor-league assignment and will test the free agent waters this offseason. The 33-year-old former closer completed a remarkable comeback in mid-June with the Dodgers, making his first big-league appearance since 2017. He spent the majority of the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Oklahoma City, but got some run, allowing four runs on five hits with a 3/1 K/BB ratio across four innings at the major-league level. He should be able to land a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training this offseason.

Feliz cleared waivers after being designated for assignment for the second time in two weeks. It is possible that the veteran reliever returns to Los Angeles again this season, but is certainly a non-factor in fantasy leagues regardless.

It’s the second DFA for Feliz in just a little over two weeks. He passed through waivers unclaimed last time and will probably do so again. The veteran reliever has surrendered four earned runs in four innings of work this year between Philly and Los Angeles.

Feliz was designated for assignment late last month, but he’ll return for the Dodgers’ series against the Cardinals. Andrew Vasquez has been sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

Feliz passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to serve as extra bullpen depth for the Dodgers at Triple-A. He fired one scoreless inning of relief in his brief stay with the Dodgers.

Feliz was knocked around in a couple appearances for the Phillies earlier this season before catching on with the Dodgers on a minor league pact. He’ll be used in low-leverage spots.
