The 30-year-old hurler appeared in 22 games between the Indians and Blue Jays in 2019, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 25 innings. He’ll compete for a bullpen spot on the Opening Day roster.

Ramirez rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo after getting pushed off the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster on Sunday. The 30-year-old right-hander will try to latch on with a new team for the final stretch of the 2019 regular season.

Ramirez was designated for assignment by Toronto on Sunday after MLB rosters expanded. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a 5.40 ERA in 25 innings of relief this season between the Indians and Blue Jays.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan Tepera’s activation. Ramirez was only with the Jays for a few weeks, allowing five runs and walking six over 8 1/3 innings.

Ramirez was inked to a minor league deal this past week and is now back in the majors. He was released by the Indians earlier this month after posting a 5.40 ERA over 16 appearances. He’ll serve as the opener for the Jays on Monday night against the Rangers.

He’ll head to High-A Dunedin for now. Ramirez was released by the Indians last week after posting a 5.40 ERA in 16 2/3 major league innings and a 4.91 ERA across 29 1/3 innings with Triple-A Columbus.

Ramirez was removed from the team’s 40-man roster back in May and is now out of the organization altogether. The veteran reliever will be on the lookout for a minor league pact elsewhere.

Ramirez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. He’ll remain with the organization as minor league depth, though he no longer counts on the Tribe’s 40-man roster.

Ramirez gets shipped out to make room for Adam Plutko on the roster. Ramirez made 16 relief appearances for the Indians with a 5.40 ERA this year. He generates plenty of strikeouts but has been hurt by the walk and the longball. He has 18 strikeouts, nine walks and five homers allowed in 16 2/3 innings.

Clevinger was dealing with 10 strikeouts through five innings, but was lifted early with back discomfort, forcing Ramirez into emergency relief action. He performed very well on short notice, not allowing either a hit or a walk while picking up his three strikeouts. After allowing four runs in his first two appearances, Ramirez has pitched scoreless ball each of the last two times he has trotted out to the mound.
