Ben Sinnott caught both of his targets for three yards in the Commanders’ Week 18 win over the Eagles.
Sinnott spent his second year seldom-used, sitting behind veteran Zach Ertz for much of the season. He started seeing double-digit passing-down snaps from Week 15 onwards, after Ertz tore his ACL. Sinnott only caught 11 total passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old will enter his third season in 2026 and may finally be in line for the starting tight end role with Ertz unlikely to return. Sinnott is a former second-round pick who deserves TE2 consideration in Dynasty leagues due to his high draft capital if the Commanders decide to not touch the tight end room this offseason.

Commanders placed TE Zach Ertz on injured reserve.
Ertz’s 2025 season is over after a Week 14 cheap shot resulted in a torn ACL for the 35-year-old veteran. He ends the season with 50 receptions for 504 yards and four touchdowns. Ertz was tenth among tight ends in catches and 12th in yardage before the injury. John Bates will likely operate as Washington’s TE1 for now, though Ben Sinnott could mix in as the Commanders play out the rest of their lost season. Neither Bates nor Sinnott should be played in 12-team leagues.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Commanders declared TE Ben Sinnott, WR Treylon Burks, QB Jayden Daniels, OT George Fant, LB Ale Kaho, WR Terry McLaurin, and OT Trent Scott inactive for Week 11 against the Dolphins.
The Commanders ruled out the biggest names on this list early in the week, so there aren’t many surprises here. Sinnott, the 2024 second-round pick, has just three catches for 33 yards and one touchdown this year.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said TE Ben Sinnott has been among the young players who had stood out in offseason practices.
Sinnott heads into his sophomore season after a rookie campaign that saw him play well behind veteran Zach Ertz, who re-signed with Washington in March. Sinnott, a second round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, caught all five of his targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in 2024; his touchdown came on a fake punt. It would appear Sinnott’s only viable path to real playing time in the Commanders offense would be Ertz missing time.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Ben Sinnott caught a 23-yard pass in the Commanders’ NFC Championship Game loss to the Eagles.
The second-round rookie’s lone reception came on a second quarter fake punt play. Buried behind an apparently ageless Zach Ertz, Sinnott caught only five passes all year. Hugely disappointing, though 34-year-old Ertz is headed back to free agency while Sinnott remains five months shy of his 23rd birthday. Especially considering Jayden Daniels’ immediate ascension to superstar status, it’s not yet time to cut bait on Sinnott in dynasty leagues. He has youth on his side at what can still be a slow-developing position.

Commanders TE Ben Sinnott (shoulder) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.
Sinnott left the Commanders’ Wild Card win against the Buccaneers with a shoulder injury. It does not seem like a major issue, with Sinnott being listed as limited for Tuesday. Regardless, Sinnott has had a minimal impact this season. He should not be considered for any DFS purposes with Zach Ertz poised for another start in the Divisional Round against the Lions.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Commanders TE Ben Sinnott is questionable to return to the Wild Card game against the Bucs with a shoulder injury.
Sinnott left the game in the middle of the second quarter and after a brief time in the medical tent, was deemed questionable to return. The rookie hasn’t been a huge factor for the Commanders this season with starting TE Zach Ertz having another strong season.

Zach Ertz (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.
Ertz left Week 15’s game with a brain injury and did not return. Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters after the game that Ertz is in the league’s concussion protocol. A DNP to start the week means we aren’t likely to see the veteran tight end on Sunday. Rookie Ben Sinnott could finally see some reps with Ertz sidelined, though his role is too ambiguous for fantasy managers to rely on in the semifinal round.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Ben Sinnott caught 2-of-2 targets for six yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 7 win over the Panthers.
A darling of the fantasy community all offseason, Sinnott has more or less redshirted his rookie season through the first seven weeks. He finally got on the board with a three-yard catch in the third quarter, which also marked his first career touchdown. Sinnott would make for an interesting fantasy option if Zach Ertz were ever to go down, but he can be left on waiver wires for the time being.
  • WAS Tight End #86
Zach Ertz is listed as the Commanders’ No. 1 tight end on the team’s Week 1 depth chart.
Ben Sinnott, meanwhile, is listed as the TE3 behind Ertz and John Bates. Taken in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Sinnott appears to have a ways to go before he works as Washington’s primary pass-catching tight end. Ertz, 33, who has a long history with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, should do most of the tight end route running to start the season.
