Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said DE Bradley Chubb (knee)'s return is “not on my immediate horizon.”
Chubb is not ready to practice yet and McDaniel positioned the injury as “an ACL plus,” which could be a sign that we shouldn’t expect Chubb back this year. He suffered the torn ACL (and possibly the plus) last New Year’s Eve. It looks like Chubb is still a ways from returning to the practice field as he rehabs the injury.

Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver said there is no timetable for Bradley Chubb’s (knee).
Cubb suffered a Grade 3 ACL tear last December and has been working his way back from the injury ever since. The timing and severity of the injury have long made his 2024 outlook hard to predict, but Weaver doesn’t sound like a coach expecting to see Chubb anytime soon. Speaking Friday, Weaver said, “Chubb is in all of our meetings — gives me the feel we will see him at some point this year.” Chubb is eligible to come off the PUP list in Week 5, but with a Week 6 bye on tap, it’s possible the Dolphins give him a few extra weeks to recover before entertaining the possibility of a return.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Bradley Chubb (knee) will open the season on the reserve/PUP list.
Chubb will be required to miss the first four games of the season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered on December 31. The veteran pass-rusher totaled 74 tackles and 11 sacks for the Dolphins last season, turning in his best year since his 2018 rookie campaign. We’ll see if his absence stretches beyond the minimum, but the earliest he can return will be Week 5 against the Patriots. In addition to Chubb, the Dolphins are also placing LB Cam Goode on the reserve/PUP list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Dolphins have moved EDGE rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips to the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Chubb suffered a Grade 3 ACL tear on December 31st, 2023, just five weeks after Phillips ruptured his right Achilles tendon. Both players face roughly nine-to-twelve-month return-to-play timelines, although Chubb’s rehabilitation process is less involved than Phillips’, who must slowly build up his repaired tendon’s elasticity. If both players remain on the PUP list through training camp, they will be eligible for the regular season’s active PUP list, where they will then remain for at least four games.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports an MRI confirmed a torn ACL for Dolphins EDGE Bradley Chubb, ending his season.
Chubb’s first full season with the Dolphins comes to an end with this injury. The star pass rusher was in the midst of a career year, totaling 74 tackles and 11 sacks — just one sack short of his career-high. The Dolphins will now look to supplement his loss as their pass rush continues to be decimated by injuries late in the season. The Jets lost Jaelan Phillips, who had 6.5 sacks to a torn Achilles earlier this year, leaving the Dolphins without two players who have accounted for 33 percent of their sacks this season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Dolphins fear Bradley Chubb suffered a torn ACL in the team’s Week 17 loss to the Ravens.
This was the concern for Chubb from the start. The veteran pass rusher fell to the ground with a non-contact injury and was in obvious pain while being assisted to the cart. Tests will likely confirm the worst for Chubb, which will end his season and leave the Dolphins without their best pass rusher. We’ll likely know more about his situation later in the day.

Dolphins EDGE Bradley Chubb was carted off in Week 17 with an apparent knee injury.
Chubb crumbled to the turf in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss during a pass rush. He was in obvious pain and required help getting into the cart. It would not be surprising if his season were over. The loss of Chubb would be a devastating blow to a Dolphins defense that had played well over the past month before being pasted by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Chubb has a dozen sacks this season.
  • MIA Linebacker #2
Dolphins EDGE Bradley Chubb (hand/ankle) is active for the team’s Wild Card game against the Bills.
Chubb played through the hand and ankle issues last week but set a season-low in snaps. He was on the field for less than a third of Miami’s defensive reps and played almost exclusively on passing downs. It’s possible he is limited to a similar role today.

Dolphins EDGE Bradley Chubb (hand/ankle) is questionable for the team’s Wild Card game against the Bills.
Chubb played through a questionable tag because of the pair of injuries in Week 18. However, he set a season-low in snaps, appearing on less than a third of the team’s defensive reps. He will likely suit up on Sunday to play a limited role once again. The Dolphins will use him primarily in high-leverage, pass-rush situations versus the Bills.

  • MIA Linebacker #2
Dolphins declared LB Bradley Chubb, QB Tua Tagovailoa, CB Xavien Howard, OT Terron Armstead, OT Eric Fisher, WR Erik Ezukana, and TE Tanner Conner inactive for Week 17 against the Patriots.
Miami enters a must-win Week 17 game with some key injuries, including Chubb and Tagovailoa, who sustained another concussion in Week 16 against Green Bay. Tua likely won’t play again this season. Teddy Bridgewater will take over for Tua and faces a New England defense missing three key members of the secondary.
