Raiders selected South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards with the No. 81 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
A four-year starter at South Carolina, Edwards (6’3/212) impressively finished with the third-most receptions (324) and fourth-most receiving yards (3,045) in SEC history. He recorded 55 catches alongside teammate Deebo Samuel in 2018 before being peppered with 26.5 percent of the team’s receptions as the go-to option last season. PFF charted 76 percent (36) of Edwards’ 71 receptions as a senior within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, profiling him as discount Samuel with a similar rushing floor for fantasy. Edwards showcased straight-line speed on film but a broken foot in February prevented him from competing at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. Edwards’ injury history (a meniscus tear in November, concussion and sports hernia surgery in 2017) is a red flag, but he is the 11th-youngest receiver in this class. Intriguing and versatile, Edwards could provide fantasy points in a number of ways if coach Jon Gruden knows how to use him. The Raiders’ suddenly crowded receiver corps makes Edwards a better dynasty league investment than re-draft.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller reports that South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards (foot) should be healthy come June.
Miller hears that Edwards is “progressing well” in his recovery from the broken foot which he sustained while prepping for the combine. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout earlier missed the Senior Bowl due to a knee injury and has essentially been forced to sit out the entirety of the evaluating process beyond team interviews. Edwards still could have an outside shot at a Day 2 selection, but Day 3 should probably be considered more realistically at this juncture.

South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards announced he has a broken foot which will sideline him for the NFL Scouting Combine.
Edwards (6'3/215) was a 2019 All-SEC selection who caught 71 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games, missing his final two games due to a knee injury. He was already forced to bow-out from the Reese’s Senior Bowl due to the knee injury, so this latest setback is a devastating blow for Edwards’ draft stock. Edwards has NFL-caliber size and speed that earned him a 6.29 grade from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein who compares him to former NFL WR David Terrell. He was hoping to work his way into a Day 2 selection, but the multiple recent injuries will likely knock him down to Day 3 consideration.

Per Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards is no longer listed on the roster for the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Miller dropped the above note on Twitter. As of yet, there is no word as to why Edwards opted out of festivities down in Mobile. Sometimes players drop evaluation bowls because of injury -- and Edwards was ailing with a knee issue at the end of the season -- sometimes for training reasons -- we saw Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson opt out of the Shrine Game last week in order to focus on the combine -- and sometimes it’s something else altogether. We wouldn’t be stunned if this was something of a Johnson-esque drop, as Edwards is going to face speed and athleticism questions in the spring. Should word surface regarding the exact reason for Edwards’ absence, we’ll pass along word.

South Carolina senior WR Bryan Edwards (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against Clemson.
Edwards (6'3/215) sustained a knee injury against App State on Nov. 9 and has been unable to play in the interim. He’ll wrap his South Carolina career the program leader in terms of catches, receiving yardage and consecutive games with a catch. Edwards figures to be in the Day 2 conversation for the draft come the spring. Athletic testing will likely be key for the wideout.
  • Wide Receiver
South Carolina senior WR Bryan Edwards (knee) is considered to be questionable for Saturday’s game vs. Clemson.
Edwards (6'3/215), who has been a key target in the passing game for the Gamecocks this season, underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his knee a couple days after being injured during South Carolina’s November 9 loss to Appalachian State. He’s missed the team’s loss to Texas A&M as a result, but there’s a chance that Edwards could be back on the field for Saturday’s season finale. Edwards has caught 71 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns this season, and his return would give the Gamecocks a needed boost in the passing game.

South Carolina senior WR Bryan Edwards (knee) has gone from “questionable” to “doubtful,” according to HC Will Muschamp.
For a brief moment, there appeared hope that Edwards (6'3/215) could return for the Nov. 30 game against Clemson. Per Muschamp, however, it’s in Edwards’ best interest to skip the rivalry game to recover. As such, the only possible game left for Edwards would be a bowl game, which plenty of prospects have shown they will skip altogether, injured or not. Edwards may have to make that decision as getting healthy for the Senior Bowl in January should be his priority.
  • Wide Receiver
South Carolina HC Will Muschamp said that senior WR Bryan Edwards has undergone a scope to repair damage to the meniscus in his knee.
Edwards (6'3/215) injured his knee against Appalachian State on Nov. 9 and subsequently sat out this past weekend’s contest with Texas A&M. The Gamecocks are off on bye this week, with Muschamp labeling the senior wideout “questionable” for the team’s regular-season finale against Clemson. Edwards -- who will be heading to the Senior Bowl in January assuming his health allows it -- has caught 71 passes (a career best) for 816 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games this fall.
  • Wide Receiver
South Carolina senior WR Bryan Edwards (knee) did not play Saturday against Texas A&M due to a knee injury.
HC Will Muschamp said after Saturday’s loss that the knee of Edwards “swelled up” on Thursday, and Friday he did not feel good about the injury. “He’ll be fine for Clemson but we’re not going to risk his health in that situation,” Muschamp said. We’ll see if Edwards is able to suit up for the rivalry game against the Tigers, but now that the team is eliminated from bowl contention there isn’t much reason for Edwards to risk further injury, similar to how kids have sat out in bowl games.
  • Wide Receiver
South Carolina senior WR Bryan Edwards (undisclosed) is not in uniform for Saturday’s game vs. Texas A&M.
Edwards (6'3/215) was inured during last weekend’s loss to Appalachian State, but he was able to finish that game. Yet despite it being reported on Tuesday that he was expected to be able to go Saturday, the senior wide receiver is not in uniform. South Carolina will certainly miss having Edwards on the field, as he has caught 71 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns.
