His long speed isn’t the best but Davis is the shifty, sure-handed type of wideout that fits well in the slot. Early reports haven’t been overly positive, but Davis also get a shot on returns as a rookie.

Davis was built to be a slot receiver in the NFL. He’s not the fastest, but he has good hands. His emergence would damage Brandon Jones’ value even further, and also that of Courtney Roby.

Jones led Tennessee with three catches for 29 yards and a score. Since Vince Young and the rest of the Titans starters played the whole first half, it appears Jones is back in line for the starting gig. He could rotate with Williams, but we wouldn’t give up on him as a fantasy option until the regular season clears things up.

Jones will take over for rookie Chris Davis, who nearly lost a fumbled punt on Monday night. Jones was replaced in the starting lineup by Justin Gage on Monday, and that he is now returning punts suggests the move is permanent.

The light has reportedly flipped on for Davis, who has just seven receptions in two years with the Titans. Though he won’t be a fantasy factor this season, Davis could work his way up to fourth on the depth chart while seeing time in the slot. He’ll have to fend off Lavelle Hawkins to do that.

The third-year pro has impressed in the offseason and coach Jeff Fisher sounds like he wants to get him on the field.

“I think Chris knows what he’s supposed to do now. And I think Chris is working at it,” Heimerdinger said. “I’m not sure Chris worked at it last year. I think he just kind of took it and said, ‘OK, I’m not in the top three.’” By all accounts, the light has flipped on for Davis this year, and he’s the favorite for the No. 4 receiver job.

The 2007 fourth-rounder had a nice showing in OTAs, but the Titans no longer had a need for him after a training-camp hamstring injury and a DUI arrest.

Davis was impressive during OTAs, but lost that momentum in camp. After a weekend DUI, the 2007 fourth-round pick’s Titans career is probably over.
