Browns RB Chris Jennings will not be charged with a crime after allegedly hitting a bouncer in the mouth outside a Cleveland club last month.
Jennings has reached an agreement with the doorman, who has not signed the criminal complaint. The Browns are still well aware of the incident. It won’t help Jennings’ cause as he tries to make the team as a third-down back.
  • NYJ Running Back
Rookie RB Chris Jennings seems to have passed Jerome Harrison on the Browns’ depth chart.
Jennings carried the ball seven times for 18 yards and caught one pass for ten yards on Monday night. Harrison saw no touches and was only in for a handful of snaps. Jennings played one game in the CFL last year and didn’t even start in college at Arizona, so Harrison must have made somebody mad in Cleveland.
  • NYJ Running Back
Browns rookie RB Chris Jennings has reportedly been getting more practice reps than Jerome Harrison for the past two weeks.
Eric Mangini’s coaching staff seems to simply not like Harrison, and he may be falling to No. 3 on the depth chart behind Jennings and starter Jamal Lewis. Jennings went undrafted out of Arizona in April. He’ll be worth grabbing in very deep leagues if he produces on more opportunities Monday night.
  • NYJ Running Back
Chris Jennings rushed just twice for five yards and added one reception for four yards against the Bengals in Week 12.
Jennings actually started the game, but he never saw a touch after the middle of the second quarter. No injury was announced, so it’s possible that he landed in the doghouse in favor of Jerome Harrison, who was held to eight yards on five touches. None of the Cleveland backs have fantasy value next week against San Diego.
  • NYJ Running Back
Browns RB Chris Jennings (shoulder) was limited again in Tuesday’s practice.
He remains on track to be active Thursday night, but saw just six touches compared to starter Jerome Harrison’s 17 last week. Look for Jennings to primarily function as a third-down/change-of-pace back against Pittsburgh.
  • FA Running Back #36
Jerome Harrison ran 39 times for 148 yards and a touchdown as the Browns defeated the Raiders 23-9 in Week 16.
Eric Mangini did not mess around with his running back rotation this time. Chris Jennings touched the football just twice, and lost a total of four yards. Meanwhile, Harrison set a franchise record for the most carries in a game and was highly productive for a second straight game. Why he didn’t play more in his first three years pro is beyond us. Quick, versatile, and fairly elusive, Harrison is making a case to be the Browns’ featured back of the future.
  • NYJ Running Back
Chris Jennings (probable, shoulder) returned to a full practice Friday.
Jennings has played ahead of Jerome Harrison since Week 8, though it’s worth noting that the Browns’ official depth chart (at ClevelandBrowns.com) lists Harrison on the first-team offense. Thus, Jennings is no sure thing to start Sunday against San Diego. Avoid this situation in fantasy in Week 13.
  • NYJ Running Back
Browns coach Eric Mangini indicated that he’s not eager to add a third running back with Jamal Lewis (concussion) out for the season.
It’s a good sign for Chris Jennings’ chances of starting despite being limited in practice with a shoulder injury. Expect Jennings to start and split touches with Jerome Harrison against the Chargers. Neither back is a good fantasy start.
  • NYJ Running Back
Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates that the reason Chris Jennings didn’t get much work in Week 13 was because of his sore shoulder.
Jamal Lewis has been on injured reserve for the last two games. In Week 13, Jennings got six touches while Jerome Harrison got 17. In Week 14, Jennings was the workhorse with 20 carries and Harrison touched the ball just nine times. Both backs are going to get a chance and coach Eric Mangini will ride the hot hand. Even in plus matchups, it’s hard to trust either.
  • NYJ Running Back
Browns coach Eric Mangini indicated that RB Chris Jennings will continue to see an increased role “if he continues to progress in practice.”
The Mangini staff clearly does not see the blocking-challenged Jerome Harrison as its future feature back, and Harrison is hacked off about his decreased role. Though Jennings will likely see more carries at Jamal Lewis’ expense, the former CFL special teamer is a downhill runner with limited speed in the worst offense the NFL has seen in some time. He’s an extreme long-shot for fantasy value.
