Houston HC Dana Holgorsen said Tuesday that sophomore TE Christian Trahan is further along in his development than former West Virginia TE Trevon Wesco was at a similar stage in his career.
Trahan (6'3/235) appeared in nine games last season, with his lone catch coming against Army in the Armed Forces Bowl. The sophomore’s in line to figure more prominently in the Houston offense this season, Holgorsen’s first as the Cougars’ head coach, and the Wesco comparison is an interesting one. While the former Mountaineers was taken in the fourth round of this past spring’s draft by the Jets, it’s important to remember that he caught a total of two passes in his first two seasons. With last year’s starting tight end, Romello Brooker, having moved on there’s a need for Trahan to be ready to take a step forward in his development/production.
