Former Michigan redshirt senior T Chuck Filiaga graduate transferred to Minnesota.
Filiaga (6'6"/340) is a former four-star recruit, and started games for the Wolverines in 2020 and 2021. Filiaga should be good enough to start for the Golden Gophers and represents a nice boost to their OL for 2022.

  • Michigan redshirt senior OL Chuck Filiaga has entered the transfer portal.
After being with the program for five seasons, Filiaga (6'6/337) will play his final year of eligibility elsewhere. A former four-star and top-150 recruit in the 2017 class per the 24/7 Sports composite, Filiaga started 11 games for the Wolverines during his time in Ann Arbor, including four this past season.

  • ESPN’s Craig Haubert believes that Michigan four-star 2017 verbal T commit Chuck Filiaga must improve his consistency if he is to be an immediate contributor for the Wolverines in 2017.
“What could initially keep him from contributing is the need to improve his technique and turn the flashes into more consistent performance,” Haubert writes. “Even with his finishing demeanor, at times he can manhandle opponents but at other times he can look to ease off the gas pedal.” The 6-foot-6, 335-pounder pledged himself to Michigan’s cause during the Army All-American Bowl this past Saturday. While Haubert doesn’t necessarily see Filiaga as an instant-impact recruit, he does note that the baby Wolverine tackle has the potential to develop into a “good, productive starter in Ann Arbour.” ESPN 300 slots him into their master list at No. 137.
  • Michigan received a verbal commitment from four-star 2017 T Chuck Filiaga.
Oklahoma and Nebraska also saw their hats on the table at the Army All-American Bowl, but the 6-foot-6, 335-pounder sided with Michigan instead, adding to a growing haul for HC Jim Harbaugh as National Signing Day nears. The Aledo, Texas, native ranks as Scout.com’s No. 125 overall prospect for the 2017 cycle, with analyst Greg Biggins noting that Filiaga “has an ideal tackle frame, shows the feet to kick out and take on speed rushers but the strength to handle bull rushers as well.” He also has potential as a defensive lineman, but it would be a surprise at this juncture if he did not stick on the offensive line for the Wolverines.
