Cody Davis retired from the NFL after 11 seasons.
Davis made the Rams in 2013 as a UDFA back when the team was still in St. Louis. The 34-year-old vet started in five of the 144 games he appeared in for his career, and has spent the last four seasons with the Patriots. His lone touchdown came in 2023 against the Broncos when he recovered a fumbled kickoff for a one-yard score in Week 16.

Patriots re-signed DB Cody Davis to a one-year contract.
A core special teamer, Davis was limited to six games by a knee injury last season. Going on an ancient 34, Ford probably isn’t guaranteed to make the 53-man roster after last year’s injury issues. It would be his fourth season in New England.

Davis, a special teams ace for New England, will undergo season-ending knee surgery after a Week 6 injury against the Browns. Davis had six special teams tackles on 99 snaps through six games this season. It’s a big loss for the Patriots.

Patriots re-signed ST Cody Davis to a two-year contract.
Davis didn’t play a single snap on defense -- he’s listed as a safety -- but did play on all special teams units. Bill Belichick has an eye on these types of players and keeps them in the building.

Patriots signed S Cody Davis, formerly of the Jaguars, to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Davis, 31 in June, has long been a special teams maven, dating back to his days with the St. Louis Rams. He’ll fill the same role in New England after the Patriots lost S Nate Ebner to the Giants last week.

  • FA Safety #22
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch believes undrafted S Cody Davis has a legitimate chance at a roster spot.
Davis’ contract includes $20,000 guaranteed, a sign the Rams agree. Davis led Texas Tech with 101 tackles last season, and blazed a 4.37 40 at Houston’s regional combine. The Rams are among the league’s thinnest teams at safety, but Davis would likely be a strict special teamer if he cracked the 53-man roster.
  • FA Safety #22
Rams promoted S Cody Davis from their practice squad.
Davis was St. Louis’ highest priority undrafted rookie signing following April’s draft. He’ll slide in as a backup free safety after T.J. McDonald’s injury.
  • FA Safety #22
Rams declared S Cody Davis, QB Brandon Allen, RB Justin Davis, LB Ejuan Price, OL Andrew Donnal, OT Cornelius Lucas, and WR Mike Thomas inactive for Week 7 against the Cardinals.
