Courtney Anderson’s improved play has buried tight end Teyo Johnson on the Oakland depth chart.
Anderson was second on the Raiders with three receptions Sunday and is an excellent blocker.
  • Raiders tight end Courtney Anderson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a knee injury.
The surprising seventh-rounder is a candidate for injured reserve. He should have a role with the Raiders for a while, though.
  • TE Courtney Anderson (knee) G Ron Stone (knee), WR Johnnie Morant (foot), and LB Travian Smith (knee) will not play for the Raiders Sunday.
No major surprises or fantasy implications here.
  • PIT Quarterback #8
The Wisconsin State Journal reports Aaron Rodgers has been advised not to comment on a potential trade that would send him to Oakland.
Rodgers added that no one from the Packers called to reassure him a deal isn’t going down. By almost all accounts, the organization has been discussing acquiring Moss for awhile. This trade seems far from dead.
  • Bills signed TE Courtney Anderson, formerly of the Falcons, on a two-year contract.
Anderson is an athlete with great size (6'6/270), but has never been able to put it all together. He’ll battle for a couple of roster spots with Teyo Johnson, Tim Massaquoi, Derek Schouman, and maybe a rookie behind Robert Royal.
  • Courtney Anderson caught two touchdown passes from Kerry Collins in week one.
He finished with three catches for 18 yards. Anderson is a multi-dimensional tight end who reminds us a little of Bubba Franks. The 2004 seventh-rounder showed nice promise last season before an injury. You could do worse with a TE2 in fantasy leagues.
  • Courtney Anderson caught five passes for 100 yards in week three.
Anderson only 193 career yards 11 games before today. That said, he’s put in two good weeks out of three this season. If you are need of tight end help, he’s worth a shot.
  • FA Tight End #86
The “early evidence” from minicamps suggests second-round TE Zach Miller will start as a rookie, according to the Oakland Tribune.
Miller starting was anticipated. Courtney Anderson is unlikely to make the club because of a $1 million escalator, while Randal Williams is battling.
  • FA Tight End #86
Raiders selected Arizona State TE Zach Miller with the No. 38 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Courtney Anderson and Randal Williams shouldn’t pose much of a starting challenge for Miller, whose all-around game is arguably better and more NFL ready than the more highly-touted Greg Olsen because of his blocking skills. Miller will be someone to keep an eye on in fantasy leagues, but won’t be worth drafting this year.
