Bears DE Dan Bazuin is recovering from meniscus surgery.
The Bears would be more likely to deal Alex Brown if they felt confident Bazuin could contribute. For now, it doesn’t look like Brown will go anywhere.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears DE Daniel Bazuin, who is currently on injured reserve, underwent a second surgery on his knee this week.
Bazuin had a knee scope in May to fix his meniscus but could never return to 100 percent. He still has plenty of time to get ready for Week 1 in 2008. A quick progression could make one of Chicago’s other ends expendable.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears signed DE Daniel Bazuin to a four-year contract.
The Central Michigan pick was a surprise in the second round, but the Bears have had success with similar picks in the past. He is a speedy pass rusher whose role is likely to get bigger in 2008 when Alex Brown and/or Adewale Ogunleye are off the team.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #93
Mark Anderson has officially passed incumbent starter Alex Brown on the Bears’ depth chart at right defensive end.
Brown should still see early-down snaps, but the increase in playing time for Anderson will up his tackle ops. Anderson is also clearly the better pass rusher. Look for second-rounder Dan Bazuin to join the four-man rotation.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears DL Dan Bazuin sat out practice on Tuesday with a knee injury.
The injury also slowed the rookie DL in spring practices. Bazuin is fighting for time in a crowded DE rotation. Israel Idonije has moved out to end after the signing of Darwin Walker.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears placed DL Dan Bazuin and FB Quadtrine Hill on injured reserve.
A knee injury has slowed Bazuin, who will miss his rookie season. Hill had been waived on Wednesday and didn’t reach an injury settlement, thus his placement on IR.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Lovie Smith intimated to Fox’ broadcast team that DE Daniel Bazuin isn’t a lock to make the team.
It looks like Chicago’s second-round pick from last season may never play a snap for the team. Bazuin continues to struggle to recover from knee surgeries.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears DLs Daniel Bazuin (knee) and Anthony Adams (triceps) have been practicing during training camp.
Bazuin has battled knee problems since entering the league as the 62nd overall pick last April. He will likely be Chicago’s fourth end this year. Adams is competing with Dusty Dvoracek to be the Bears’ starting nose tackle.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears informed DE Daniel Bazuin of his release.
Bazuin resembled a young Patrick Kerney coming out of Central Michigan last April, but the Bears are giving up on him due to knee injuries. We would bet that he gets claimed on waivers.
  • HOU Defensive Lineman
Bears DE Daniel Bazuin (knee) has resumed practicing with the team.
Bazuin has had at least two surgeries since being a second-round pick in 2007. He appeared to be a highly promising draft choice and potential three-down player, but it’s hard to have high expectations for him this year.
