Derrick Mason experienced tightness in his quadriceps to close practice yesterday.
“I got it loosened up,” Mason said. “It’s nothing major. I’ll be all right.” We’ll keep an eye on it, but Mason should be starting in all fantasy leagues this weekend.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Derrick Mason will be relieved of punt and kickoff returns in Nashville to open the season.
This is good news for Mason’s fantasy prospects. He looked excellent all preseason and may be counted on more this season with Justin McCareins gone and Ty Calico hurting.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Derrick Mason will undergo an MRI on his injured ankle this week.
We’ll update once we know more. Erron Kinney is also undergoing an MRI. The Titans have totally fallen apart because of injuries.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Derrick Mason believes he could be a salary cap casualty.
The Titans are in trouble, but we think they’ll find a way to keep Mason. His cap number isn’t that high for a guy who can lead the league in receptions.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Jacksonville and Baltimore were negotiating directly with Derrick Mason Sunday.
They appear to be the favorites for Mason, although the Giants and Jets should be in the mix.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Derrick Mason has narrowed his list of suitors to five teams, with Jacksonville his first choice.
Both New York teams, Cincinatti, and Baltimore are involved. Mason is familiar with the position coach in Jacksonville and knows the division well. He would help Byron Leftwich’s value plenty.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
With a trade for Laveranues Coles looking unlikely, the Jets are now targetting Derrick Mason.
Mason hopes to wrap a deal somewhere by Thursday or Friday. Baltimore, Jacksonville, and New York are the favorites. A Mason signing in New York would endanger Santana Moss’ future with the team.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
The Jets view Derrick Mason as a No. 1 receiver and will go after him.
So what spots do Santana Moss and Justin McCareins fill? Likely No. 2 and No. 3 receivers if the Jets sign Mason.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Derrick Mason and Kyle Boller seem to have their timing down with the out pattern to Mason’s side of the field.
Mason is no longer a great big-play threat, so it will hurt him significantly in fantasy leagues to see his reception total decline in Baltimore. It’s hard to imagine him catching 90 balls again.

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times hears the “clock is ticking” for the Ravens to sign free agent WR Malcom Floyd.
The Ravens presumably have an offer out to Floyd’s agent, who was asking for the moon early in free agency. Floyd’s decision could turn out to have major repercussions for the Ravens’ offense, as the fallback plan appears to be re-signing a swiftly declining Derrick Mason while hoping raw rookie Torrey Smith (hamstring) is ready to make an early-season impact. Per Wilson, Floyd’s other suitors are the Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, and Raiders.
