Ravens waived QB Drew Olson, S Bobby Blackshire, P Brendan Carney, RB Greg Pruitt Jr., CB Terrell Maze, and LS Nick Leeson.
Olson outplayed Troy Smith during the preseason, but had too much working against him in that Smith was the Heisman Trophy winner in 2006 and got a signing bonus as a fifth-round pick. The others were undrafted rookies.

49ers signed QB Drew Olson off their practice squad.
Olson will be Chris Weinke’s backup in Week 17. The 24-year-old former UCLA star has bounced around since going undrafted in April of 2006.

Panthers released QB Drew Olson and re-signed FB Billy Latsko.
Olson had been signed last week with David Carr and Vinny Testaverde hurting. The move is a strong indication that the Panthers expect both veteran QBs to be healthy Sunday at Green Bay.

Panthers signed QB Drew Olson from their practice squad and waived FB Billy Latsko.
This may be an indication that Carolina is prepping for Vinny Testaverde (Achilles) to be inactive against Atlanta and Matt Moore to start. Olson would then back up Moore on game day. David Carr has been ruled out.

49ers signed QB Drew Olson to their practice squad.
A slap in Luke Getsy’s face. Olson was most recently on Carolina’s taxi squad after outplaying, then subsequently being cut in favor of Troy Smith out of Ravens camp. He’s insurance with Alex Smith unlikely to play again in ’07.

The Panthers will host free agent Drew Olson for a physical on Tuesday.
Olson outplayed Troy Smith in Ravens camp this preseason, but the roster spot went to the reigning Heisman Trophy winner instead. The former UCLA star is only a candidate for the practice squad right now, but that may change if David Carr and Vinny Testaverde are unable to play this upcoming week.

Panthers signed QB Drew Olson to their practice squad on Tuesday.
Olson actually outplayed Troy Smith with the Ravens this preseason, but Baltimore couldn’t let the reigning Heisman winner go. Olson will provide depth behind Matt Moore if David Carr and Vinny Testaverde can’t play this week.

49ers signed Drew Olson to a one-year contract.
Olson has bounced around practice squads in his two seasons, and was passed over for a Week 17 start when the 49ers went with Chris Weinke. At best, he’ll be third on the depth chart next season.

49ers waived QB Drew Olson and claimed QB Kyle Wright off waivers from the Vikings.
It’s a little surprising that teams are intrigued with Wright, a former monster high school recruit who floundered at the University of Miami. Olson never had a chance to stick behind Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, and J.T. O’Sullivan.

UCLA QB Drew Olson won the throwing competition at Saturday’s College Football All-Star Challenge.
Vince Young finished second. Olson could go as high as the second round in the draft and will compete in the combines with Alabama’s Brodie Croyle and Clemson’s Charlie Whitehurst in the second tier of draftable QBs.
