He’ll play third string. Jeb Putzier is a very interesting fantasy pick as a starter in Denver.

Carswell pleaded guilty to battery and received one year probation for allegedly choking and biting his girlfried. So the suspension had nothing to do with an in-team incident.

Carswell played tight end at 265 pounds but now weighs 292. He’s currently listed as the No. 2 man on the depth chart at left tackle.

Carswell was trying to come back from a life-threatening October car accident. The 34-year-old might be done as a pro.

In Carswell’s absence, Jeb Putzier moves up to the first-team slot at tight end on the depth chart released by the Broncos on Monday afternoon.

Carswell, Jeb Putzier, and Patrick Hape will continue to share snaps at tight end for Denver.

Carswell, who backs up starter Matt Lepsis, “picked it up like he’s always been doing it,” said DE Raylee Johnson, who has gone head to head with Carswell often during camp. “I’m very surprised. Going from tight end to tackle, it’s two totally different positions. But you can’t tell by looking at that guy.”

“Crazy, isn’t it?” Carswell said. “I’m hardly a secret weapon. You’ve got certain plays you’ve got to make, and those were my plays to make today.”

Carswell suffered multiple rib fractures, a ruptured diaphragm, ruptured spleen and other internal injuries. He’s out for the season.

The former tight end tore his diaphragm and had internal bleeding in his chest. Carswell was still in surgery five hours after the crash. The police made it clear that Carswell was in no way at fault.
