Former South Carolina redshirt senior WR EJ Jenkins transferred to Georgia Tech.
Jenkins (6'7/243) spent one season at South Carolina after transferring up from FCS St. Francis (Pa.). He appeared in 12 games, with one start, posting catching eight balls for 117 yards and a TD. He posted a 37-779-13 line in his last season at the FCS level. It’s unclear at this time if the Yellow Jackets will deploy him as a jumbo receiver or as a tight end. We’d assume, either way, that he’ll spend a lot of his on-field time in the slot.

  • PHI Tight End #84
South Carolina junior WR EJ Jenkins (undisclosed) took part in Wednesday’s practice while wearing a no-contact jersey.
Jenkins (6'7/243), who was reportedly “dinged up” during a recent practice, went through drills while wearing a blue no-contact jersey on Wednesday. OC Marcus Satterfield said that he hopes to have the junior available when the Gamecocks open their season September 4 vs. Eastern Illinois. Jenkins joined the South Carolina program as a grad transfer from Saint Francis (PA), where he caught 37 passes for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019.

  • Jason Brown
    VaTech #15
Former Saint Francis (PA) senior QB Jason Brown and senior WR EJ Jenkins have transferred to South Carolina.
Brown (6'4/230) is one of two Saint Francis standouts who have committed to South Carolina, with WR EJ Jenkins (6'8/235) being the other. With the NCAA moving the FCS season to the spring, neither had the opportunity to build on excellent 2019 campaigns this past fall. Brown earned honorable mention FCS All-American honors in 2019, as he completed 62.3% of his passes and threw for 3,084 yards and 28 touchdowns with six interceptions. During that same season, Jenkins posted a 39-779-13 receiving stat line.

  • PHI Tight End #84
St. Francis (PA) junior WR EJ Jenkins transferred to South Carolina.
Jenkins is an unfathomably large wide receiver. At 6-foot-8, 235-pounds, Jenkins is built more like a tight end than someone who get split out. Nevertheless, Jenkins did well at the sub-FBS level last year, finding 37 passes for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns. Jenkins is a touch faster than he looks, but his real trump card is the obvious height advantage and threat he poses in the red zone. Players do not tend to jump up a level in play like this over one year of production, but it’s got to be tough to pass on someone with incomparable size for the position.
