    Patriots signed cornerback Hank Poteat.
Not the best sign that the Pats need to sign extra corners the week before facing Peyton Manning in the playoffs.
  • CLE Defensive Back
    Patriots re-signed cornerback Hank Poteat.
New England signed Poteat exclusively for their playoff run last season and he actually saw the field quite a bit.
  • CLE Defensive Back
  • NYJ Defensive Back
Jets CB David Barrett was benched for Hank Poteat Sunday.
Barrett worked as New York’s nickel back. Recently signed Abram Elam started at safety opposite Kerry Rhodes. The shakeup didn’t work, however, as the Jets surrendered 395 yards and 31 points to the Bengals’ offense.
  • CLE Defensive Back
The Rams worked out free agent CBs Hank Poteat and Fernando Bryant on Tuesday.
The over-30 journeymen were cut by the Jets and Patriots, respectively, on Saturday. The Rams clearly are concerned with Fakhir Brown’s shoulder.
  • CLE Defensive Back
    Jets re-signed CB Hank Poteat.
They just can’t quit him. Since joining the Jets two seasons ago, Poteat has fifteen starts, with nine of them coming last season. He has a legitimate shot at starting opposite Darrelle Revis in 2008.
  • FA Defensive Back
The New York Daily News believes Justin Miller is the favorite to be the Jets’ starting cornerback opposite Darrelle Revis.
Miller is coming off a knee injury, but should be motivated in a contract year. He is far more athletically gifted than either David Barrett or Hank Poteat.
  • NYJ Defensive Back
Jets DB David Barrett has been seeing time at safety and is in danger of being cut Saturday.
Rookie Dwight Lowery’s emergence as a probable starter at cornerback means that one of Barrett or Hank Poteat will likely be cut. Barrett carries a salary at close to $3 million, so the writing could be on the wall.
  • NYJ Linebacker
Jets released LB Matt Chatham, CB Hank Poteat, TE A.J. Schable, DL Thomas Johnson, and RB/FB Jehuu Caulcrick.
Caulcrick could land on the practice squad. Chatham was a special teamer. It’s a good sign for the Jets that they no longer have to rely on marginal former Patriots who know the system.
  • CLE Defensive Back
Jets re-signed CB Hank Poteat and waived G/C Will Montgomery.
Poteat could push for nickel duty right away, as he knows the scheme.
