  • Browns LG Eric Steinbach suffered a knee sprain at practice Tuesday.
Steinbach, the Browns’ prize free agent acquisition, could miss up to two weeks of practice. Isaac Sowells could see preseason action in his stead.
  • CLE Wide Receiver
Browns WR Joe Jurevicius, LB Antwan Peek and LB David McMillan all underwent post-season knee surgery, while OL Isaac Sowells had shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.
Most of the work can be considered offseason “maintenance,” with the exception of Sowells’ torn rotator cuff. None of the surgeries are expected to affect the respective players’ availability for next season.
  • CLE Tackle
Browns OL Ryan Tucker underwent surgery to repair a non-displaced fracture in his hip Friday and will be out at least two months.
The team says he’ll be ready for the start of the season. Tucker was slated to start at right guard for Cleveland’s suddenly strong line. Isaac Sowells and Rex Hadnot are candidates to fill in if Tucker isn’t healthy by Week 1.
  • Browns RT Kevin Shaffer suffered a concussion in Sunday’s win.
He was replaced by Isaac Sowells. Shaffer’s lucky he has the upcoming bye week to shake it off and get ready for Giants LE Justin Tuck in Week 6.
  • Lions waived G/T Isaac Sowells.
Sowells was signed for depth with Jeff Backus and Gosder Cherilus sidelined early in camp. Now that both starting tackles are practicing, Sowells is no longer needed.
  • Browns signed fourth-round G Isaac Sowells to a four-year contract.
Sowells played tackle at Indiana but could be Cleveland’s third guard as a rookie. Third-round WR Travis Wilson is the only Browns draft pick still unsigned.
  • Browns RG Seth McKinney is expected to be a starter this season.
He’d make one cheap starter on Cleveland’s line. Ryan Tucker and Kevin Shaffer will presumably compete at right tackle if Shaffer is not traded. The team also has decent prospects in Fred Matua and Isaac Sowells.
  • The Browns believe fourth-rounder Isaac Sowells’ future is at tackle.
Sowells hasn’t been active all season and is behind undrafted rookie Rob Smith at guard, but a good offseason and he could be competing to start with Kelly Butler, Ryan Tucker, or Nat Dorsey at right tackle.
