Saints linebacker James Allen injured his patella tendon at Saints OTAs on Wednesday and will miss the 2006 season.

Allen, who missed nearly all of last season with a knee injury, was expected to compete with Anthony Simmons to start on the strong side. New Orleans was already thin at linebacker, so they’ll likely check out what’s left on the market. Earl Holmes, Jay Foreman, and Greg Favors are available.
