Hodgins

The third-year pro has missed nearly all of two seasons with injuries. The team would save $1 million off the salary cap if they cut him.

Hodgins was only supposed to miss four weeks, another Cardinals medical estimate that proved far too hopeful. It makes us wonder what the truth is involving Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin’s injuries. It’s another reason not to draft Emmitt Smith.

After missing last season with a shoulder injury, Hodgins tore his ACL in the first quarter Sunday.

Hodgins once blocked for the “Greatest Show on Turf.” Brown and Bulman were both beat out for spots by younger players.

Spencer led Tennessee in special teams tackles in 2005 and takes Ryan Myers’ place. Riddle, an ex-Raider, can play middle linebacker. Hodgins was once a Ram but most recently a Cardinal.

They have also talked to Packers restricted free agent Vonta Leach. Arizona is remaking its ground game and will need a fullback, and some blocking tight ends to do so. Edgerrin James should be smiling.

Hodgins was a starter, but the Cardinals have a capable reserve in Obafemi Ayanbadejo in the offseason. Still, the Cardinals offense is a total mess right now.
