Jaguars signed DE James Wyche, FB Rich Alexis, TE Greg Estandia, S Jamaal Fudge, T Wayne Hunter, C Brett Romberg, and WR Charles Sharon to the practice squad.

  • JAC Defensive Lineman
Jaguars placed DE Brian Smith on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list.
An oft-injured player at Mizzou, Smith couldn’t shake an in-camp hip injury. The fourth-round rookie will be eligible to return to the lineup in Week 7. This could clear the way for James Wyche to make the Jaguars’ roster.

Wyche, 27, showed he could rush the passer at Syracuse, but finished his college career some four years ago. He’s done nothing at the NFL level.

With Paul Spicer sitting out voluntary OTAs, Jaguars DEs James Wyche and Jeremy Mincey have been taking first-team reps.
Both were 2006 draft picks who’ve done little in the pros. Spicer wants a pay raise because he’s in the last year of his contract and has been the Jags’ only reliable end for the past two seasons. Brent Hawkins, Kenneth Pettway, and Brian Smith all have next to no chance of making the Jaguars’ final roster.
