Seahawks activated S Julian Love (hamstring) off injured reserve.
The Seahawks are also activating Jarran Reed (wrist/thumb) as Seattle is getting two of their core defensive players back for the final five contests of the year. Love should be the starting free safety against Atlanta, while Reed should see plenty of snaps/could start up the middle, as well.
  • SEA Free Safety #20
Seahawks S Julian Love (hamstring) is expected to be activated from injured reserve in Week 14 against the Falcons.
The same can be said for Seahawks DT Jarran Reed (wrist/thumb), who is also on injured reserve. The team must make the requisite roster moves by 1:00 pm tomorrow in order for Love and Reed to play. The Seahawks ruled out WR Dareke Young (quadriceps). He remains on injured reserve.
  • SEA Free Safety #20
Seahawks designated S Julian Love (hamstring) to return from injured reserve.
DT Jarran Reed and WR Dareke Young were also designated to return. All three players will be at practice this week. They have 21 days to be officially activated off injured reserve. Getting Love and Reed back will bolster a defense that has already been one of the best in the league this year.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #19
Seahawks WR Jake Bobo (concussion) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 2 against the Steelers.
Bobo and WR Dareke Young (hamstring) will both be available this weekend. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the only Seahawk to earn more than three targets in Week 1, returning anyone even mildly capable to the lineup is a plus. Bobo will likely compete with rookie WR Tory Horton for WR3 duties. S Julian Love (groin) and DT Jarran Reed (back) are good to go as well.
  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
Seahawks re-signed DT Jarran Reed to a three-year contract.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reed can earn up to $25 million on his new deal. Reed’s deal comes just days before he was set to hit free agency following a 45 tackle, 4.5 sack season. Reed, who the Seahawks drafted in the second round in 2016, returned to Seattle in 2023 on a two-year deal and will now be under contract through the 2027 season. It’s a strong contract for a defensive lineman entering his age-33 season.
  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
ESPN’s Brady Henderson reports the Seahawks ‘tweaked’ DT Jarran Reed’s contract.
Reed signed a two-year, $10.8 million contract with the Seahawks a last offseason. Henderson reports that the team essentially took $530k from incentives and made it part of the base value of the deal. The salary adjustments seem to give Reed a small contract sweetener and leave him with a deal that retains the same max value, all non-guaranteed. Reed started 16 games for the Seahawks at defensive tackle, totaling seven sacks last season. He now has $370k tied to sack incentives for next season while $530k was taken out and added to Reed’s base salary and in-game bonuses tied to being on the 53-man roster.
  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
Seahawks signed DT Jarran Reed to a two-year, $10.8 million contract.
Reed managed 51 combined tackles and four sacks in Green Bay in 2022. The seven-year veteran started his career in Seattle, playing his first five seasons for the Seahawks. Reed has started all but three healthy games over the previous five seasons, highlighting a dynamic skillset that allows him to remain on the field in both pass rush situations and against the run. He is likely to soften the blow from the eventual departure of DT Poona Ford.

  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
Packers signed DT Jarran Reed, formerly of the Chiefs.
Reed signed in Kansas City on a one-year deal last offseason. He started all 17 games but failed to make much of his opportunity. The rotational pass-rusher only notched 2.5 sacks while playing on 64 percent of the team’s defensive snaps. He was a liability against the run and earned just two TFLs. Now 29 years old, Reed will likely see his duties scaled back with the Packers. He should settle into a depth role, complemented by high-end pass-rushers on the exterior of the defensive line.

  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
Chiefs signed DT Jarran Reed, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year, $7 million contract.
Reed’s contract features $5 million in guarantees. The Seahawks attempted to trade Reed after a contract dispute but weren’t able to find any bidders. They ultimately released him a year after re-signing him to a two-year contract. Reed played all 16 games for the Seahawks last season and racked up 6.5 sacks plus a forced fumble. He peeked at an impressive 10.5 sacks three years ago. Now 28 years old, Reed projects as a high-end rotational player for the Chiefs. He’ll join a loaded defensive line alongside Chris Jones and Frank Clark. Despite the Kansas City offense being their calling card, they’ve also managed to form a talented pass-rushing and remain the team to beat in the AFC.

  • SEA Nose Tackle #90
    Seahawks released DT Jarran Reed.
The team spent much of the day attempting to trade the 28-year-old but was unable to find any suitors. His release, ignited over a dispute on converting a portion of his salary into a signing bonus, will create $8.975 million in cap space. The No. 49 overall pick of the 2016 Draft, Reed still has a number of serviceable years left to offer any team willing to add him to its trenches. He’ll comfortably find a home as a rotational player in a matter of days.
