Wilkins

It looks like St. Louis will rest Wilkins’ sore ankle heading into their bye week. His owners should look for alternatives, but don’t waste the roster spot until it’s necessary this weekend.

The Rams play Miami in the early games, so we will have a definite for you by kick-off.

He’s safe to use in fantasy leagues.

He did not aggravate his ankle, which was hurt earlier in the year. Wilkins is set up for a fine day on turf at Atlanta.

Rams head coach Scott Linehan’s offenses have often ranked among the league’s best in total yardage but have struggled in the red zone. If this continues, look for Wilkins to keep putting up monster weeks.

Consistently one of the best kickers in football, Wilkins is currently 9th in the NFL in points scored. He’s one of the best kickers to own in dynasty leagues because he plays indoors for a high-scoring team.

Wilkins is an extra point short of the all time record for consecutive PATs made. He could have had the record Sunday, but the Rams went for two instead. As if it made a difference in their season - they’ll still be picking second in April. Wilkins implied he might need some offseason surgery.

“He’s got a little bit of a (leg) issue that he’s got to get squared away medically,” coach Scott Linehan revealed. Wilkins turns 36 in April.

We wouldn’t want to play for the Rams either. Wilkins was an All-Pro in 2003, but his year-to-year inconsistency rivaled Bret Saberhagen’s. He finishes his 14-year career with 1,416 points, good for 19th all time.
