It was revealed at the Scouting Combine that Chargers rookie WR Jeremy Williams had a torn labrum in his shoulder.
This explains why such a productive wideout with at least decent speed and size went undrafted last month. The Bolts are essentially holding an open tryout for their No. 5 receiver job behind Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee, and Craig Davis. Williams is in the thick of the battle, along with fellow UFA Seyi Ajirotutu and career practice squadder Gary Banks.
  • LAC Wide Receiver
Gary Banks will be pushed by undrafted rookies Jeremy Williams, Seyi Ajirotutu and Ernest Smith for the Chargers’ final WR spot.
The Chargers will have to deal with Vincent Jackson’s looming suspension early in the season, and there is an opening for the team’s No. 5 receiver position. Banks has spent the last two seasons on the practice squad.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Chargers waived WRs Jeremy Williams and Seyi Ajirotutu.
A 93-yard punt return TD in the preseason finale couldn’t save Williams’ roster spot. He was a star in OTAs before fading in training camp. Ajirotutu is considered a better bet for a spot on the practice squad.
  • Eagles signed TE Cornelius Ingram, TE John Nalbone, and WR Jeremy Williams to reserve/future contracts.
A victim of multiple ACL tears, Ingram spent the 2010 on and off the Eagles’ practice squad. He may never stay healthy long enough to reach his once vast potential. Nalbone, a project, was the Dolphins’ fifth-round pick in 2009. Williams shined in OTAs with the Chargers last season before disappearing in training camp.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Eagles signed WR Jeremy Williams to their practice squad.
The undrafted rookie dazzled in OTAs for the Chargers but didn’t do enough in training camp to earn a roster spot despite a 93-yard punt return TD in the preseason finale. He’s a good depth addition for the Eagles.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Undrafted rookie WR Jeremy Williams’ performance has reportedly “leveled off” heading into the third week of preseason.
Williams didn’t have a single catch in San Diego’s second exhibition game, and fellow undrafted free agent Seyi Ajirotutu may be passing him on the depth chart. Ajirotutu had three receptions for 71 yards over the weekend.
  • LAC Wide Receiver
The Chargers may end up keeping just four wide receivers this season.
Much will depend on the health of Buster Davis, so it’s hardly etched in stone. Davis was dealing with a hip pointer as recently as late last week. If the Bolts shed their fifth wideout, Josh Reed would have to hold off rookies Jeremy Williams and Seyi Ajirotutu for the final spot.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Undrafted rookie Jeremy Williams is “pulling away” in the battle for the Chargers’ fifth-receiver job.
With Vincent Jackson still unsigned, Josh Reed and Buster Davis are the third and fourth receivers. Williams has been head and shoulders above Gary Banks and UFA Seyi Ajirotutu. Williams wouldn’t have gone undrafted had he not showed up to the Combine with a torn labrum in his shoulder.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles waived DT Jeff Owens, CB Gerard Lawson, WR Jeremy Williams, and DT Jeremy Clark.
The latter three were only going to be camp bodies in Philly, so the Eagles are doing them a favor by letting go now. Owens is coming off massive knee operations -- plural. We suspect the former Georgia Bulldog has no future in the NFL.
