Mahelona

The undersized ex-Tennessee Vol flashed for the Titans, but never cracked the regular rotation. Mahelona should find work before the year is through.

The 6-0/311-pound Mahelona, a former star at Tennessee, is an odd fit for a mostly 3-4 defense and may not last long. Robinson played with coach Cam Cameron in San Diego and will add depth with Vonnie Holliday nicked up.

Mahelona, an undersized nose tackle, didn’t make a tackle in his one game active for Atlanta. He’s likely to find an offseason contract later this winter.

The Falcons need bodies on the defensive line. Mahelona played in 10 games with the Titans as a rookie last season, but was released in September and spent a week with the Dolphins this season. Huntley had 2.5 sacks in six games with the Raiders last season.

Mahelona was a fifth-round pick of the Titans in 2005.

It’s nice to see Mahelona has stayed in shape, but he won’t make the club.

Chauncey Washington is locked in as Jacksonville’s third RB behind Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. The Jags are going with only two QBs.

The local product from Tennessee will join a very young group of defensive tackles on the Titans.
