Terms weren’t announced. Salave’a was seen as a key run stopper in the middle of the Washington defense.

Salave’a helped as a starter for a few seasons, but the Redskins are trying to get younger at defensive tackle.

Washington is ready for a full-fledged youth movement. Salave’a’s base salaries are minimal the next two seasons, so he has a chance to stick around. The Redskins may be more inclined to get rid of Cornelius Griffin, who’s due $4.2 million in each of the next three years.

If he doesn’t play, Ron Dayne has better fantasy potential in Week 3. Use Dayne as a flex only if you don’t have better options; he’s starting but no lock to get the most carries in the Texans’ backfield.
