Titans signed WR Xavier Restrepo to a reserve/future contract.
Restrepo had finally gotten elevated just before Thanksgiving before an ankle injury knocked him out for the season. He finished with three catches for 41 yards in two games. The Titans also signed DE David Ebuka Agoha, DB Keydrain Calligan, DT Timmy Horne, LB Nate Lynn, WR Hal Presley III, NT Isaiah Raikes, LB Cam Riley, RB Blake Watson, G Clay Webb and TE Joel Wilson to reserve/future deals.
  • FA Running Back #30
    Bears released RB Royce Freeman.
Freeman had only joined the Bears last week — the veteran will probably find a practice squad by the time the week is over. The Bears also waived DB Millard Bradford, DL Xavier Carlton, DB Alex Cook, LB Power Echols, DB Kaleb Hayes, QB Austin Reed, RB Ian Wheeler, and TE Joel Wilson. Additionally they released DB Tre Flowers and OL Joshua Miles, and placed DB Zah Frazier on the NFI list.
  • CHI Running Back
The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs reports that Bears head coach Ben Johnson listed rookie RB Kyle Monangai among the players who “impressed throughout spring action.”
The Bears drafted Monangai in the seventh round after a productive college career at Rutgers. Monangai is unproven as a pass-catcher but did establish himself as a proficient tackle-breaking rusher at the college level. If he continues to perform well, he could challenge Roschon Johnson for the No. 2 rushing role. Johnson also listed TE Joel Wilson, EDGE Dominique Robinson & LB Ruben Hyppolite as players who have impressed him thus far.
  • BUF Tight End #85
Bills TE Quintin Morris (ankle) did not practice on Tuesday.
Morris is now the Bills’ back-up tight end after veteran Dawson Knox had surgery to fix his dislocated wrist on Monday. With Morris not practicing on Monday or Tuesday, he remains a longshot to play on Thursday night against the Bucs, leaving Buffalo with one healthy tight end. While Dalton Kincaid is likely going to soak up as many snaps as he can handle it’s possible that the team elevates rookie Joel Wilson from the practice squad to help rotate in on some snaps.
  • TEN Tight End #83
Central Michigan redshirt freshman TE Joel Wilson (undisclosed) is expected to be able to play in Saturday’s MAC Championship Game against Miami (OH).
Here’s a nice turn of events for your Friday. Near the end of November, Chippewas HC Jim McElwain indicated that the 6-foot-4, 228-pound Wilson was likely done for the season due to the undisclosed injury concern he sustained against Albany in the team’s opener. However, Wilson has apparently made strong progress of late, with McElwain noting on Wednesday that he had turned in a good practice week as the team preps for its conference title showdown with the Redhawks.
  • TEN Tight End #83
Central Michigan HC Jim McElwain said that redshirt freshman TE Joel Wilson (undisclosed) is likely done for the season.
“We were hoping, but every time he plants, he’s unable to get in that cut. I wouldn’t think Joel will be back,” McElwain said of the 6-foot-4, 228-pound Wilson. The redshirt freshman has been sidelined ever since he went down injured against Albany in the team’s season-opener. Tony Poljan has been working as TE1 for CMU throughout the campaign.
  • TEN Tight End #83
Central Michigan redshirt freshman TE Joel Wilson is likely to miss Saturday’s game at Wisconsin due to an undisclosed injury suffered during the team’s season-opening win over Albany.
Wilson (6'4/228) caught one pass for seven yards in the 38-21 victory, matching his reception total from a season ago. Should the redshirt freshman not be able to recover from his injury in time for next week’s game at Wisconsin sophomore Bernhard Raimann, who did not see any action vs. Albany, would serve as Tony Poljan’s backup. Poljan caught three passes for 27 yards.
