On the plus side, fellow DT Jordan Davis (shoulder) continues to practice in full and LG Landon Dickerson (ankle) at least remained limited rather than experiencing a downgrade. Hopefully, this is just a pre-planned rest day for Carter, who sat out in the Eagles’ Week 6 upset loss to the Giants. The G-Men ran the ball aggressively, totaling 172 yards and four touchdowns on 48 carries. The Vikings could employ a similar game plan with RB Jordan Mason if Carter is again out this week.

Davis now tips the scales at 330 pounds. This is the lightest he’s been since his sophomore year at Georgia, per PHLY Eagles’ Zach Berman. Davis has functioned as a rotational player since the Eagles drafted him in the 2022 NFL Draft’s first round. A well-conditioned Davis on the field for all three downs could take a step forward in his fourth season.

After Eagles general manager Howie Roseman declined to say whether the team would pick up Davis’ option just two weeks prior, the team made the call after Davis played his second straight 17-game season for the dominant Philly front seven. Davis, who has 3.5 sacks and five tackles for loss over his past two seasons, was graded by Pro Football Focus as 2024’s 40th-best defensive tackle. He will make $12.9 million in the 2026 season.

“The absence of a decision on Davis logically suggests the Eagles are still weighing their options ahead of the May 1 deadline,” writes The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena. Perhaps the Eagles are leaving their options open because of certain draft scenarios, but Davis has been a fine rotational player for the Eagles in his first three seasons. Davis has generated a 70.9 or better PFF grade in all three of his seasons to date, but has yet to play more than 561 snaps for the Eagles.

Davis being added to the injury report on Thursday is a bit concerning, but the fact he was able to log a limited session is still encouraging. We’ll see how he fares in Friday’s practice, but for now, we’d expect him to suit up for Week 8 against the Commanders. In addition to Davis, the Eagles also added CB James Bradberry (ankle) and LB Zach Cunningham (ankle) to the practice report. Both were listed as limited participants.

Quinn injured his knee in practice, and the pass rusher was declared out on Friday. It’s a blow for the Eagles’ ability to get to the passer. However, the Eagles will have DT Jordan Davis, who is returning from injured reserve. bolstering the interior of the defensive line.

Philadelphia’s rush defense has been horrendous with Davis sidelined since Week 8. Only six defenses have allowed a higher EPA against the rush than the Eagles since Davis suffered his ankle injury. Davis practiced this week and should return just in time to face Derrick Henry and the run-heavy Titans.

Although Davis is still technically on injured reserve, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Reuben Frank expects him to be activated ahead of Sunday’s game against the Titans. The No. 13 overall pick had been devouring the run before going down. It would be a timely return with Derrick Henry on deck for Sunday.

Davis, the 13th overall pick in April’s draft, has played 33% of the snaps on defense as a rookie, mainly eating space on early downs. He’s dealing with a high-ankle sprain and will miss at least the next four games.

The team also ruled out cornerback Josiah Scott. Davis suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 8 and will almost certainly miss multiple games because of the injury. He was a solid run-stuffer for the Eagles’ defensive front. His absence could open up a few extra holes for Texans runner Dameon Pierce.
