Washington head coach Ron Rivera said K Dustin Hopkins (groin) could be iffy to play Week 10 against the Lions.
When asked about Hopkins’ status for Week 10, Rivera said, “We’ll see.” Hopkins was limited at Thursday’s practice with a groin injury. Kaare Vedvik, Washington’s practice squad kicker, would be activated for Sunday’s game if Hopkins is sidelined. The erratic Vedvick shouldn’t be deployed even in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Bills signed P Lac Edwards, formerly of the Jets.
In a corresponding move, the Bills released punter/kicker hybrid Kaare Vedvik. Edwards was a seventh-rounder in the 2016 NFL Draft and has been with the Jets ever since. He has an average punt of 45.5 yards.

Bills signed P/K Kaare Vedvik to a reserve/future contract.
Vedvik has had an interesting NFL career while attempting to juggle punting and placekicking duties. Results have been bad, but he does have a massive leg. Vedvik has previously declined a workout as a kicker to focus in on punting.
  • Kicker (FG)
Free agent Kaare Vedvik declined a workout as a placekicker because he is focusing on punting.
Vedvik was brutal kicking field goals this year, so this is a good move as it’s difficult to juggle punts and kicks at a professional level.

    Jets waived K Kaare Vedvik.
Waived by the Vikings following an August of missed kicks, Vedvik proceeded to cost the Jets dearly in their season-opening, 17-16 loss to the Bills, shanking both a field goal and extra point. A combo punter/kicker, Vedvik has a unique skill-set, but it is not yet up to NFL standards. Sam Ficken will serve as the Jets’ kicker going forward.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the Jets will work out kickers on Tuesday.
Kaare Vedvik cost the Jets by missing a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point in Sunday’s loss to Buffalo. It’s unclear who New York plans on bringing in, though Younghoe Koo and Cody Parkey, who both worked out for the Jets this summer, would seem to be logical candidates. Vedvik was claimed off waivers from Minnesota a week ago after failing to crack the Vikings’ Week 1 roster. His stay in East Rutherford figures to be a short one.
  • Kicker (FG)
Jets claimed K/P Kaare Vedvik off waivers from the Vikings.
The Jets have been searching far and wide for a solution to their kicking woes ever since letting Jason Myers walk as a free agent in the offseason. Chandler Catanzaro retired and Taylor Bertolet flopped in the preseason. Vedvik was nails for the Ravens before his trade to the Vikings, where he went 0-for-3 on field goals this summer. Vedvik can also punt.
  • Kicker (FG)
    Vikings waived K/P Kaare Vedvik.
The Vikings gave the Ravens a 2020 fifth-round pick for Vedvik just 20 days ago. Minnesota hoped Vedvik would solve its kicking problems, but Vedvik missed all three of his field goals for the Vikings this preseason. Odds are he’ll find another home and succeed while the Vikings go back to Dan Bailey.
  • Kicker (FG)
Vikings acquired K/P Kaare Vedvik from the Ravens in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick.
Vedvik was on the trading block all offseason but talks escalated after he went 4-for-4 on his field goals, including a 55-yarder, during the preseason opener. The Vikings have been haunted by their kickers for what seems like decades. Vedvik, who is also an NFL-caliber punter, should fix Minnesota’s kicking concerns.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, at least four teams have injured about trading for Ravens K Kaare Vedvik.
Vedvik looked unstoppable in Thursday’s preseason opener, converting all four field goals and both of his extra-point attempts with a long of 55 yards. Per Schefter, two of the teams showing interest hail from the AFC North. While no trade is imminent, Schefter confirmed the kicker will be dealt “at some point this summer.” He could be a fit for the Jets, who have a need at kicker following Chandler Catanzaro’s surprise retirement. Currently on a Hall of Fame trajectory, Justin Tucker remains the Ravens’ long-term kicker.
