The Jaguars named Kenny Wright their starting right cornerback yesterday.
''He’s been the most experienced, savvy and productive guy,’' coach Jack Del Rio said. Wright’s ascension is a nice story, but a sign of the poor depth at the cornerback position in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent CB Kenny Wright to a one-year deal. The deal was worth the league minimum.
Wright should have a shot at the right CB position but he’s a better fit to come in on ‘nickel’ packages. If Wright solidifies a starting spot, he could be a useful pickup when your starters have their bye weeks.
  • CLE Defensive Back
Kenny Wright may be the favorite to win Jacksonville’s starting cornerback job opposite Rashean Mathis.
Who? If there is one team desperate enough to out-bid the Jets for Ty Law, it has to be the Jaguars.

Browns terminated CB Kenny Wright’s contract.
Wright, 30, hasn’t been an effective coverman in a few years. The writing was on the wall when he was arrested on several charges early last month.

Browns CB Kenny Wright was arrested Thursday on charges of unlawful restraint, evading arrest, fleeing, and marijuana possession.
Quite a day. Police say they found 1.875 ounces of marijuana on Wright’s person after a parking-lot altercation from which he initially fled on foot. Wright, 30, has been a fringe player since 2005 and seems highly unlikely to make the Browns’ roster now. His release could be coming in short order.

Browns CB Kenny Wright’s April 3 arrest in Pearland, Texas, was not his first offseason brush with the law.
Wright was also charged March 1 with Class B misdemeanor possession, but a suspension is premature because he has only been charged. There is some question over whether Wright actually disclosed the first incident to the team when it happened. His place on the Browns’ roster is tenuous at best.

The Cardinals plan to meet with free agent CB Kenny Wright on Wednesday.
Wright saw quality time in Jacksonville last season starting opposite Rashean Mathis. He’s been replaced on the Jags by the free agent signing of Brian Williams.

Former Jaguars CB Kenny Wright visited the Jets Monday.
A starter in Jacksonville for most of 2005, he’d add much-needed depth to the Jets.

The Redskins believe they have “wrapped up” a one-year, $1 million contract for CB Kenny Wright.
A starter on Jacksonville’s excellent 2005 pass defense, Wright would help fill the nickel role in Washington.
