Wright should have a shot at the right CB position but he’s a better fit to come in on ‘nickel’ packages. If Wright solidifies a starting spot, he could be a useful pickup when your starters have their bye weeks.

Who? If there is one team desperate enough to out-bid the Jets for Ty Law, it has to be the Jaguars.

Wright, 30, hasn’t been an effective coverman in a few years. The writing was on the wall when he was arrested on several charges early last month.

Quite a day. Police say they found 1.875 ounces of marijuana on Wright’s person after a parking-lot altercation from which he initially fled on foot. Wright, 30, has been a fringe player since 2005 and seems highly unlikely to make the Browns’ roster now. His release could be coming in short order.

Wright was also charged March 1 with Class B misdemeanor possession, but a suspension is premature because he has only been charged. There is some question over whether Wright actually disclosed the first incident to the team when it happened. His place on the Browns’ roster is tenuous at best.

Wright saw quality time in Jacksonville last season starting opposite Rashean Mathis. He’s been replaced on the Jags by the free agent signing of Brian Williams.

A starter in Jacksonville for most of 2005, he’d add much-needed depth to the Jets.

A starter on Jacksonville’s excellent 2005 pass defense, Wright would help fill the nickel role in Washington.
