Michigan State junior G Kevin Jarvis is not listed on the depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game at Rutgers.
Jarvis (6'4/307) injured his knee during Michigan State’s home loss to Arizona State on September 14, and he has not appeared in a game since. J.D. Duplain and Luke Campbell were the starting guards for last weekend’s loss at Michigan, and things are trending in that direction for Saturday’s game at Rutgers.
  • Michigan State junior OL Kevin Jarvis (knee) is expected to be out the next 6-7 weeks.
Spartans HC Mark Dantonio announced the grim news on Tuesday. Jarvis (6'4/307) sustained an apparent knee injury during Saturday’s slugfest loss to Arizona State. While he will be sidelined for the foreseeable future, Dantonio floated a possible return date of Oct. 26, when MSU plays Penn State. That would be on the early end of things. If Jarvis takes a little longer to mend up, we might not see him again until November. Either way, Dantonio told reporters that this is not expected to be a season ending injury. Tyler Higby will start in Jarvis’ place at left tackle moving forward.
  • Michigan State junior OL Kevin Jarvis is not listed on the team’s depth chart for Saturday’s game at Northwestern due to an undisclosed injury.
Jarvis (6'4/307), who spent his first two seasons at right guard before moving to left tackle this summer, left the Spartans’ 10-7 loss to Arizona State late in the first half after suffering an undisclosed injury. The junior did not return to the game, and now Michigan State is down three left tackles. Cole Chewins (back) and A.J. Arcuri (foot) are out as well, leaving senior Tyler Higby to serve as the starting left tackle for the Spartans’ Big Ten opener. Highly-regarded freshman Devontae Dobbs is listed as Higby’s backup on the depth chart.
