La’Roi Glover is likely to only be on the field 60-65% of the time in the new 3-4 Dallas defense.
The five-team Pro Bowler will play both tackle and end, and be involved in all obvious passing situations. It won’t help his stats, but Glover is still a key part of the defense.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
La’Roi Glover is expected to play around 60% of the teams defensive plays this season.
Glover doesn’t fit Dallas’ new 3-4 scheme but he’s talented and can still make plays. He is expected to come in on nickel packages and also play close to half of the plays in the basic defense that Dallas will use.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Jimmy Kennedy is still penciled in as the Rams’ starting nose tackle.
His poor technique hasn’t stopped the Rams from trying to convert him from under tackle. The team also wants to limit La’Roi Glover’s snaps, so Adam Carriker and Kennedy seem likely be the starters inside to open the season.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
Former Saints Pro Bowl DT La’Roi Glover announced his retirement from football.
A fifth-round pick by the Raiders in 1996, Glover made his mark with the Saints. His 17 sacks in 2000 led the NFL while ranking second in history among defensive tackles. The six-time Pro Bowler finished his 13-year career with 83.5 sacks, an outstanding number for an interior lineman.
  • WAS Linebacker
The Rams have replaced SLB Quinton Culberson with Chris Draft, DT La’Roi Glover with Clifton Ryan, and DE James Hall with Victor Adeyanju in the starting lineup.
They’re probably still going to lose against the Bills on Sunday, but coach Scott Linehan is pulling out all the stops in his bid to save his job.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
The Cowboys cut DT La’Roi Glover.
The six-time Pro Bowler just didn’t fit into the 3-4 scheme. The move saves the Cowboys from paying Glover a $1.5 million bonus and a $7.2 million 2006 salary against the cap.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
The Cowboys will release DT La’Roi Glover.
Like so many moves that will happen today, this will be unfairly attributed to the lack of the CBA. But the six-time Pro Bowler was never coming back to Dallas because of his big salary and lack of fit with the 3-4 defense.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
La’Roi Glover’s new contract is reportedly for $12 million.
It’s a three-year deal that includes a $3.5 million signing bonus. The signing means free agent DTs Damione Lewis and Ryan Pickett are unlikely to return but also sets the market in their favor. Lewis, 28, and Pickett, 27, are considerably younger than Glover, 32 in July.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
Rams signed DT La’Roi Glover to a three-year contract.
Glover played under Jim Haslett in New Orleans and can be a veteran leader for the underachieving Rams D-line. St. Louis got in trouble signing aging linebackers last year, but this deal makes a lot of sense in the short term if the numbers are fair.
  • LA Defensive Lineman
Cowboys DT Laroi Glover is expected to get released this offseason.
The aging tackle still has a place in the league, but his Pro Bowl days are probably over. He didn’t really fit the 3-4 defense in Dallas.
